Introduction Text I think I've finally figured out the puzzle... I've had bits and pieces, but now that I've put it together, I'm determined to succeed and I believe in me! I was brought up in a loving family loving food. My parents didn't eat right and they still don't. I can't make them change. I have some health issues, it's a crappy hand to be dealt for sure, but there's always someone struggling with worse, there's not a cure and I can't change that and I'm reasonably sure food and being sedentary are not the prescription to help. I can't get rid of a sleep disorder I've had my whole life and for which has no cure. There's no magic pill for endometriosis. Chronic pain of fibro and CMP don't have a cure and I'm going to hurt if I move and I'm going to hurt if I don't move. I will get migraines, some will be really bad and some will go away faster. I have exercised induced asthma, luckily some meds before exercise usually prevents anything too bad. I cannot change that that's a heavy load that I would wish upon no one. I CAN CHANGE my lifestyle, lower my weight and feed my body proper fuel to have its best chance to give me energy and minimize how bad these things do affect me. It can't erase it, but it can help and it will certainly help me prevent the high cholesterol/triglycerides, diabetes, and hypertension that my parents struggle with. I CAN CHANGE my family tree. It starts with me. In the past I've done things wrong and I've learned from it. I lost weight in college through more of a crash diet scenario. I started off alright, but didn't have a plan or direction, so I gravitated towards unhealthy habits. I wouldn't eat all day and allow myself whatever I wanted at 1 meal and I'd choose junk. Overall it was lower calories and I lost weight, but you can't sustain that, it's not healthy and you will bounce back. Lesson learned. Then, I joined Spark People in 2007. I started slow, modifying my diet correctly. I figured if I could stick to that, I could work in the fitness slowly but surely. Well, the health issues really got bad, I had an incredibly stressful job (probably the source in the flare up of health issues), I lacked support from family and I burned out and gave up. Lesson learned? Diet isn't the only thing, even if done right and you can't let people drive you into stress that makes you unhealthy or put up with destructive behavior/lack of support. You have to do what you need to do for you and you can't let others dictate the outcome of your goals. You can't change them, you can change you! So here I am, it's 2012 and I am going to do this right and I am going to do it for my health, not to look a certain way or for a certain event or any of that. Last year the health insurance rules changed at my work and if your BMI falls into the "obese" category you need to additionally do blood work for cholesterol and blood sugar screening if you wish to keep lower copayments and deductibles. My triglycerides were way too high. I lost a little bit of weight, made some minor modifications, but nothing drastic. I started thinking about how things are for my parents, they're miserable and to be honest, due to my health I am miserable at times too. I'm sick and tired of being sick and tired and if you're a Dave Ramsey fan you know that means it's when you'll change =) So here's to 2012. Here's to avoiding weight related diseases because I choose to modify my lifestyle and live like no one else so I can live like no one else! Here's to changing me for me! My goal is to reach my target weight, look and feel good, and maintain this for life. I want to enjoy shopping!

Oop... I almost forgot. I won't be able to make it fellas. Veronica and I trying this new fad called uh, jogging. I believe it's jogging or yogging. it might be a soft j. I'm not sure but apparently you just run for an extended period of time. It's supposed to be wild. This is a marathon, not a sprint, work through the hurdles one day at a time and don't fixate on a single goal. Each small success will lead to a lifetime of success.
