My name is Carolyn but I also use Injoy:) I joined Spark People in 2007 then deleted that page and rejoined in 2009. I started fresh in November 2017 and have stuck with it since then. I've had a lifelong struggle with weight and was morbidly obese. I'm repairing those habits now and while I know it will take time, I'm in this for the duration. It truly is a LIFESTYLE change for me.

I'm a happily married, retired mother of two adults (ages 48 and 43) and have three grandchildren, all of them over eighteen. I'm originally from Louisiana; moved to East Texas and have lived in Illinois, Long Island New York, Nevada, Oregon, Washington and retired to Arizona. I'm the only survivor of four children. Both my parents are deceased.

I'm 70 yrs old and will be 71 in November. I'm 5'9" and used to be 5'11. My Hubby's name is Steve. I'm medically retired since 1995. I worked as a nurse, as an accountant and other miscellaneous jobs from working in a perceptual development lab, at a museum for an archeologist and as a secretary.

My husband and I used to travel periodically to attend car shows and have a restored Classic 1956 Ford F100. I don't go outdoors during the daytime during the summer because of the extreme heat (105 to 117 degrees) but the nights in Arizona are beautiful. Winter days are in the 70's and I love seeing the sunsets from my front porch nightly. I spend many of my summer evenings in our pool and feel blessed to have it!

We have a gorgeous French mastiff/boxer mix female dog (Miss Jasmine) who at 115 pounds still thinks she's a lap puppy. She turned three years old in May. She is a joy. She swims like a fish and loves playing in the pool. She jumps out of the water like a dolphin. She will play catch for hours or until our shoulders give out.

I enjoy card crafting, adult coloring, reading and writing book reviews for NetGalley, Amazon, and Goodreads. I also crochet, do card crafting and do jigsaw puzzles online. That way I never lose the pieces. I also do crossword puzzles.

I LOVE my life! I'm grateful to be alive. I adore my wonderful (longsuffering) husband of 40 years and love my family. I miss my daughter and grandchildren since they live in Washington and I moved to Arizona in November 2008.

I enjoy surfing the net, learning more about genealogy, watching recorded tv shows or movies. I like swimming or simply floating in the pool. Less gravity makes my joints feel better. I enjoy writing poetry and blogs and at some point will use enough discipline to get the 'book in me out'.

I will continue to learn new things, spend time with my Honey and appreciate life. I'm taking charge of my weight control journey and giving myself the time to learn and enjoy as I continue to lose weight and regain strength and energy. I believe that if I exercise and eat right following the 80/20 rule and believe that I can do it, that it will happen. A lot of times when I'm tempted to eat, I'll blog instead.

My Goals:
Here are reasons WHY I want to change want to reach and maintain my goal weight:
Be as healthy as possible and feel better physically.
Lower my blood pressure and get off blood pressure medicines.
Feel more confident and have self-respect.
Able to move more freely.
Be physically fit.
To have more energy and live a fulfilling life.
Avoid looking for sturdy chairs without arms.
Be a role model for my grandchildren.
Take walks with Hubby and dog.
To walk without a cane or a walker.
To stride or saunter instead of struggling.
To exercise and still be able to breathe.
To do yoga, dance or Zumba.
Have my long neck back and only one chin.
Cross my legs at the knee.
Get into and out of the bathtub.
Get up and down off the floor with ease.
Improved appearance.
To have stronger muscles.
Shop anywhere for attractive clothing that I like.
Wear a swimsuit or skinny dip instead of chunky dunking.
Wearing clothing that fits.

My Program:
1. Stay within calorie allotment and use nutritional planner in advance.
2. Drink 64 ounces of water daily.
3. Take my prescriptions twice daily consistently.
4. Continue my Pilates 100's twice daily program.
5. Alternate leg work and arm workouts every other day. I need to have a weekly rest day.
6. Continue turning around any negative self-talk.
7. Continue stopping complaints immediately.

    I understand your struggles. I have lived this roller coaster most of my adult life. I have always looked at my overweight, unhealthy parents and said "I don't want to be like that". But guess what? That is exactly what I am. Obese, high blood pressure, high cholesterol, sleep apnea and climbing blood sugar - I was a total wreck! I have dropped 25 lbs and already feel amazing! I just don't know why I didn't try this hard before. Now -just another 56 lbs to go.
