May 2020 - Bwa ha ha ha! See below for a long string of "I'm back" updates. I crack myself up but somehow I woke up on Monday and the spark overtook me. Back to "running". Back to measuring. Back to Sparkpeople!

October 2017 - Okay, after five years of not-dying-from Cancer, leaving a toxic marriage, months and months of homelessness in a 13" camper, along with various and sundry smaller challenges, I'm back.

I'm exhausted by change and challenge. I have been made stronger and weaker by the storms that life has sent me. But I am even more loving, astonished and optimistic!

November 2013 - I'm back! After a couple years of Intentional Eating and Movement left me feeling healthier and stronger. I even competed in two triathlons in 2012. Then I turned 50 and being all proactive about my health I got my colonoscopy - no symptoms, no family, just a routine check. Dang if I didn't have full-on stageIIIc colorectal cancer.

I just finished the triathlon of cancer (radiation, surgery, chemo) and where as I couldn't bring myself to track my downward fall from healthy to weak over the year. But I am back, basically to track my return from the couch.

2010 - I knit, I spin, I code, I dance, I garden. I am a hopeless romantic and a hard-core optimist. I am the mother of three strong women, grandmother of two smaller ones, and the wife of the-man-of-my-dreams.

After 25 years of smoking, I haven't had one puff since April 20, 2009. By December 29th 2009 though I had gained 21 pounds and was up to 229 pounds.

But now that I have quit smoking I AM freaking Wonder Woman! I can do anything I set my mind to. I have proven to myself that not even getting off tobacco is impossible! I now know that am the master of all that I put in my body. Full Stop.

In a period of re-invention, I have two part-time jobs. I am a one-girl IT shop for the University of Wisconsin Extension Lakes Program and I am co-owner of The Wisconsin Wool Exchange where I teach folks to knit and spin.

As of May 1, 2010 I have lost 26 pounds and am just ounces from dropping below the 200 mark. That'll feel good.

    Question for you how much knitting do you do and how the heck can you knit and walk at the same time. I have heard of someone knitting on the back of a long motorcycle ride but not while walking talk about multitasking.

    1) come in, read the posts, and do your postings
    2) read, join any teams that you think you like, go to My Spark Points (click there) and spin the wheel, (that is where you go everyday to start with those points)
    3) get it know the people and make new friendships
    4) read some article.... (you make points reading these too)
    5) make yourself to exercise like walking, jogging, or whatever you would like to do
    6) most of all :: have fun and enjoy yourself

    If there is anything that I can do to help, give me a holler. If I do not know the answer, I will find it. Our leaders are really great and help when you need it too. So don't hesitate to ask. That is why we are here ...I'm a single Mom of 3 grown sons......

    LOL what do you mean you can't shimmy and knit at the same time? ;) hehe try knitting and mayas or knitting and figure eights...they're slower so maybe that'll work? Dunno if you could actually perform while knitting, but you can do isolations! emoticon
