To Flourish - "to grow or develop in a healthy or vigorous way".

Fitness Minutes: 277

My Goals:
I want my senior years to really be my "golden" years!

I want to be a healthy weight and have grace and balance.

I want to be able to fit in seats again; whether it's on a plane, a hockey arena or a theatre.

I don't want to feel pain walking and I want to be able to take stairs normally.

I want to be able to kneel down and garden.

I want to be a success story so that I can be an example to other survivors of CSA who struggle with food addiction as a result of that abuse.

My Program:
I followed the 17DD for 4 rounds in 2011 and lost 50 lbs. Now I'm taking those principles of carb cycling and clean eating and doing my own thing.

I also learned that - "I can do it". It takes constant vigilance, but it's doable.

Recently started Keto and IF (Intermittent Fasting). Haven't really made much progress in the last few years but this is a new decade and I'm determined.
I also learned that a sensitivity to gluten was a major roadblock in my previous weight loss efforts. I would never have learned that without the 17DD.

Personal Information:
I'm from upstate NY, married, no children. We have two dogs and one cat all rescues.
I have fibromyalgia/CFIDS. I'm very into organic gardening and like to travel. My husband and I have a small travel trailer. I'm an avid reader (fantasy fiction, psychology books and mysteries). I like New Age, classical and oldies music, and am very into meditation and mindfulness practice.
My DH and I are both retired.

Other Information:
I believe in the power of the individual to create their own reality.

Anything on MBSR - Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction by Dr. Jon Kabbatt Zin is well worth checking out if you suffer from chronic pain like I do.

Hi Gabby! You asked in my blog post about the chicken I made. It's easy....(the below will feed four--modify to fit your needs)

I pretty much butterflied (or made "pockets") four bnls, skls chicken breasts and sesoned the inside and out with my favorite seasonings (adobo, pepper, smokehouse maple)

In a bowl, I combined 8 oz (softened) of FF cream cheese with a handful of FF mozzarella (I'm not one for measuring!) and some jalepenos (from a jar)(fresh is much better...just didn't have any this time). I stuffed each chicken breast with some of the mixture and then wrapped two slices of turkey bacon around each piece of chicken. I baked in the oven on 350 for about 30 minutes (cooking time depends on how big your chick. breasts are). This is really yummy!

Hi! Thanks for the comment and the friend add!

As for the name, it is rather interesting, at least to me! Ha! I used to use a diff. one but needed to change it. This name came for a variety of reasons, sort of. I love MASH and in one or two episodes, Hawkeye called Hot Lips this; also, right after I had seen one of those re-runs, my PMD -doc- called me this one day (we have a great relationship!) AND I'm a FOUR-time cancer survivor, as well as an abuse survivor, so it just seemed to fit from all angles!

Thanks for asking! All the best as we all journey together toward our goals! Hope to get to know you soon; I post a daily insp. quote blog and I'd love to have you join us. Take care, Nance
