I am a very happy senior with two sons, an "adopted" former inner city boy who considers me Mom, two wonderful daughters-in-law, three grandchildren, two "adopted" grandchildren, and a husband of 49 years. (My "adopted" son lived with us during his very turbulent high school years.)
My husband and I have an eBay store and both tutor children from primary grades through college.
My husband has recently had very serious cancer surgery and is now on chemo-therapy. He seems to be doing well.
I have let my weight get out of hand, and I realized that in order to see my grandchildren grow to adulthood, I will have to get my health in order. I am finding that joining Spark People was one of my best decisions because I am getting the accountability that I have been lacking. I feel that my weight has been an embarrassment to me, and I believe that getting it under control will help me to have the energy to do the things that I have been letting slip by. I am grateful to have found this site.

My Goals:
I want to lose weight so that I can watch my grandchildren grow up and so that I can avoid serious illness. Being overweight has been embarrassing, and I want to stop being aware of my weight.

My Program:
I am starting out by tracking my food and trying to incorporate exercise into my day.

Personal Information:
I live in Illinois and have lived in the Mid-West my whole life. I am retired from teaching and continue to tutor. I have a law degree and practiced law many years ago, but I preferred teaching and returned to that. My husband and I also have an eBay store with new and like-new clothing.

Other Information:
My favorite quote is attributed to Henry Ford: Think you can or think you can't. Either way you will be right.
