In my twenties, I served in the Army Reserves and trained daily to stay in fighting shape.
In my thirties, while serving the Army Reserves, I lost my training rhythm and eventually fell out of fighting shape.
I have been studying muay thai, taekwondo, and krav maga since September 2007 and have made many friends who motivate me to return three times a week for about two hours a night. I have become so enthusiastic about this that I am now working towards certification as an instructor.

At the beginning of every class, we recite the following motto by which we train in class and live:
I will practice in the Spirit of Taekwondo, with courtesy for fellow students, loyalty for my Instructors, and respect for my juniors and seniors.

At the end of class, we recite this motto:
I shall live with perseverance in the Spirit of Taekwondo, having honor with others, Integrity within myself, and self-control in my actions.

I try to live as closely to these mottos as I quest to be the man I used to be and then the man I truly want to be for my wife, my sons, myself, and my community.
