I have needed to lose because I have seen what the future offers via my dad's health (parkinsons, heart disease, RA, etc.). Knowing it and doing it can be two different things. Unfortunately, knowing I need to do it causes me to feel depressed over my failure to start and when I do start, then I become depressed over my failure to permanently succeed. Addendum: Since starting SparkPeople I have learned that it is ok to fall down as long as I get back up again. (I had so long applied that principle to other areas of my life but just couldn't seem to do it with weight loss.) This is a lifestyle not a diet. I just need to be consistent in changing little things at a time. That little change in thinking has really made me feel better inside - release a lot of negative thinking. I am grateful for 'baby steps'.

My DH (dear husband) is so very supportive and has offered to take couples dance lessons when I lose some weight, which is a real sacrifice on his part because he has never wanted to learn ballroom dancing. (My feet won't let me do it at this weight.) He even let me pick the goal weight. So I chose the goal as losing half the weight and then using the dance lessons to lose the other half. He has never ever complained about my weight. (I am so blessed.) I am very grateful for his patience, understanding and encouragement.

My Goals:
Mini-goal: Lose 5 pounds (which resets every time I lose 5 pounds)

Lose half the weight for dance lessons.

My Program:
Currently I am in Stage 2 of the Spark Diet. I am trying to keep the momentum from the Fast Break stage by continued consistency, reading/informing myself about Stage 2, and then acting upon it with a positive attitude. The Spark Diet is awesome! Being involved with my teams has also been an invaluable aid! Thanks SparkPeople!!

I am also currently going Low Carb ( Atkins) and am feeling much better!
(Atkins is low carb NOT no carb.)

Oxycise! by Jill Johnson. It is enjoyable and I love it! My goal is to Oxycise! 6 days a week, at least once a day. My inspiration: Jill Johnson, Aubrey Lee and other Oxycise! members and the GREAT way I feel after I Oxycise!

My future exercise/weightloss goals:

After I lose half the weight my DH has agreed to take dance lessons with me. That will be FUN exercise!

Also, I would like to start running - when my weight comes down enough to run without my feet hurting. My inspiration to reach this goal: I read about SparkPeople members reaching their goals to enter races and I want to do that too. I had forgotten how much I liked to run. I have a friend who likes to run also and her enthusiasm has been contagious. My plan: To ease into the goal so that I don't bring back my foot problems. I want to start by Oxycising regularly to get the weight down, thus taking the pressure off of my feet. Then start walking a little at a time to test out my feet, perhaps doing Walk Away the Pounds indoors when it's not convenient for me to go outdoors. Later, moving on to interval walking/running. Slow and steady wins the race. : )

    Just wanted to stop in and say hi! Also, saw your post in the hypothyroid's group and was wondering how much more different has it felt being on Armour than on Synthroid? My doctor won't make the change; he just keeps upping my synthroid and the effects of the pills only lasts about 3 weeks before my body completely overtakes it and I start getting sluggish all over again. I'm at 200 right now and don't feel a difference. Read from the Mary Shomon book "The Thyroid Diet" that a change to Armour could help. My chiropractor told me the same thing about his mom. Right now I don't lose any weight and I'm exercising daily and following a strict diet. My doctor says there isn't a difference and Armour could be worse, but I don't see how it can be any worse than now. Can you let me know your story? Thanks in advance and much success with your challenge! emoticon
