Here I am. Starting again. I've been out of whack with my eating and exercise for quite a few months now. My husband and I moved twice in the last year. Moving always seems to add on the pounds for us. But, now we are settled (for a while I hope!) and it is time to take my health seriously. My cholesterol is high and the docs want to put me on meds. I DON'T WANT MEDS! I want to solve the problem. So, I've recently cut WAAAY back on my intake of animal products. I've found some great alternatives for meat. Cheese is my downfall though. So, I'm trying really hard to keep that down to a minimum in my diet. A few weeks ago I started walking and eating more fruits and veggies. Soon I'm going to start hitting the gym again. I feel so good already with the small changes I've already made. I'm excited about how I will feel months from now after living a healthier life. I hoping all these changes will show up in three months when I have my cholesterol checked again. The doctors aren't happy that I won't take meds, but it's my body. I'm going to live a healthier lifestyle to drop my cholesterol, not pop a pill. Hopefully I'm not one of those people that have high cholesterol regardless of how well I eat and exercise. There is only one way to find out. If it turns out I do everything I can to lower my cholesterol and it still keeps going up, then I will consider medication. But only after I try to help myself first.

I'm excited about jumping on the bandwagon of good healthy living once again!!!

My Goals:
To move more and have more energy! To be able to enjoy doing the things I want to do without feeling like I'm giong to fall apart! Lol!


My Program:
Well, I'm going to be making healthier eating choices. I will be choosing foods that are low in fat & sodium and higher in fiber. I am also aiming to go to the gym a minimum of 4 days a week but no more than 6 days a week.

My name is Karen and I live in Chester, VA. My husband and I moved here in June 2009. It's nice being closer to family again after almost 5 years of living in TN.



Other Information:
My favorite hobby is photography. Actually, it's more than a hobby, it's my passion!! I am hoping by becoming a healthier me that I will have the energy to go out and explore and spend more time taking pictures.
