Enough is Enough
My name is Kimberly. I gained almost all of my weight while pregnant for my almost 22 year old. I have never had any motivation to lose it because I thought I was happy with the way I was. That all changed October of '06 when I watched the Iron-Man Challenge and thought - That is incredable. I started working out every other day for about 6 months and never lost a single pound. I was eating better and felt a little better but not loosing anything was very discouraging, so I gave up. Since then, my life has completely changed. I met my fiance online in 2009 and after 2 years decided to take the leap and move to another country with my daughter in order to make one big family.. 8 years later, I am now the (almost) step mom of 5 additional kids. That's 6 total. The last 8 years have been a huge adjustment, moving from upstate, New York to Melbourne, Australia. Although it seems to be very much the same, it is completely different in the details. The kids have also had difficulty with transitioning from family, to separation, to divorce to new partners for both parents and now yet another child on their mothers side. My weight went down 20 pounds in those first 6 months after the big move. Just living life and being active and finally being with the love of my life made all the difference. I call it the new relationship phase. Then I levelled-off on loss and was just maintaining my weight for the next 6 months. I knew it meant actually needing to turn my focus on me and changing my diet in order to keep losing the weight and getting into something more structured for activity. Then everything hit me all at once.. 2 1/2 years here and running at high speed working hard on getting the kids in the right space, working on my fiancé, who was also having depression issues, no doubt, from everything he had gone threw the last few years. Couple all that with my mother not feeling well and the guilt of leaving, and not having finances in place to visit, no hope in sight to go any time soon. It all started to take its tole and I had to seek professional therapy to help me through the stress of everything. Through all this I gained 25 pounds and my weight bounced back to higher than it was when I moved here. Fast forward 6 years later - Now that the worst is behind me I have refocused my attention on myself. I am again, feeling like I do not deserve to be unhappy all the time and that I too, am worth the effort I put into everyone else around me. I am now ready to recommit to better health. I hope to someday in the very least, I will be able to get back home and run the Boston Marathon, something that has been on my bucket list for the past 20 years. I have never been a runner so that in itself will be a big thing to overcome in order to complete this task.

Personal Information:
Originally from New York, now living with my fiance in Melbourne, Australia with our kids. (I have 1, he has 5). We have 2 fur babies and a backyard zoo.. a kelpie/retriever mix (spoiled baby in the family) and our very crazy tabby cat (I'm not kidding - she loves water! - playing in it especially). We also have 4 chickens and a fluffy bunny. I have lived in Australia over 6 years now and I am now working after studying for 2 years just to be able to work again in my field. I work full time, organize 7 other schedules and maintain the house (did I mention my partner is in a band, and a karate instructor and our children all have different work/ extra activities on different schedules.. So much fun!
Other Information:
I am a full time lead educator, mom, taxi driver (including daily drop of fiance at the train station-to and from work every workday) when schedules match, housekeeper, butler, chef, household nutritionist, farmer/gardener, personal assistant to 7 others, errand-runner, amateur veterinary nurse (the fur baby has medical issues), animal groomer, party-organizer, mechanic, personal decorator, fiancé, sister, daughter auntie and friend, karate sparing partner, and now a driving instructor, and band groupie/roadie.
No wonder I am exhausted!
