When did I join Sparkpeople?
Cant remember the original date / year but I know I was participating as far back as 2007 and probably before that also.
Because I was not making any progress I deleted my account in 2011 but realized this was not the right thing to do as I needed the support of others who are struggling with weight issues so on November 5, 2011 I rejoined

Marital Status?
Am married to a wonderful man since December 1983. He had been married before and had 2 beautiful pre teen girls. So I became a wife and step mom to 2 girls - that was a big transition to make for sure. Since then we fostered over 50 children under the age of 5 at which time we decided to adopt - June 1991 we brought home 2 beautiful siblings - Son was aged 3 and his sister aged 2. All 4 of our children are adults, older 2 girls are married with children, son is a father but not with the mother and his daughter and our youngest daughter who has Down Syndrome still lives at home which is great as I cannot imagine life without having her around.

Grandchildren? Yes we have 7 (the youngest passed away 2 years ago at age 1 from brain cancer) and we are expecting our 8th grandchild in January (a boy) When the new baby is born that will make it 2 granddaughters and 5 grandsons and we also have our 1st great great granddaughter who was born May 2017

Pets? 2 very spoiled dogs - they are siblings but from different litters. Mom was a purebred Pom and dad was a Maltipoo = Benj is 12 will be 13 in November and his sister Molly is 9 will be 10 in September.

Where do we live?
We live in British Columbia Canada - which is on the west coast. 2017 was a bad year for our province due to forest fires and 2018 is just as bad - rather than spending a lot of the summer out enjoying BBG, swimming ect we are inside due to poor air quality. Praying that this will all change but they are telling us this might be the way it will be for a few years - is this is so wonder where all the lumber will come from as we have lost most of our lumber already.

Anything else to share?

*** Am a 2x cancer survivor - as of June 2018 I am clear 16 years of this terrible disease.

***Am a Christian - not sure what others think of when they see this phrase but I am one that love my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, daily I put Him first in all that I think and do, thanking Him for all that He has blessed me with. Am involved with a very good church that has a terrific Pastor - each Sunday he reinforces what the Bible teaches us not only on the love of Christ but on all other things that the Bible expands on.

*** Have finally seen the light as to what I have done to my body with respect to not eating healthy - therefore I am not on a diet but am making a healthy lifestyle change along with incorporating walking and some chair exercises into my daily routine.

*** Highest weight recorded March 2016 was 316
***Current weight recorded August 21 2018 was 276
Loss todate is 40 pounds = working on the next 60 pounds

10 reasons I want to lose weight:
1) To honor my Lord and Savior
2) To improve my health
3) To feel better
4) To look better
5) To be able to have a better choice of clothes to buy
6) To be able to move better
7) To reduce pain
8) To get off diabetic med's
9) To improve kidney function
10) To look nicer for my beloved husband

Scripture Verses that mean a lot to me are

Matthew 19:26 says
But Jesus looked at them and said, 'With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.

Romans 8:28 says
And we know that for those who love God all things work together for good, for those who are called according to his purpose

Jeremiah 29:11-13 says
For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope. Then you will call upon me and come and pray to me and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me, when you seek me with all your heart.

Psalm 94:17-18
If the Lord had not been my help, my soul would soon have lived in the land of silence. When I thought, 'My foot slips,' your steadfast love, O Lord, hel me up. When the cares of my heart were many, your consolations cheer my soul.

When you arise in the morning, think of what a precious privilege it is to be alive to breath, to think, to enjoy, to love. Good Morning and have a good day and a fabulous week

Just read your last blog and realized I was looking in the mirror as I read it. I am trying to change the way I eat and your blog has truly made me realize I need to do it for myself. Thank you.

Read your latest blog and came to visit your page and found you originally joined Spark in 2007...same as me...my name is also Marilyn...wishing you all the best on your journey to a healthier “you”! Sometimes I feel I need to pinch myself to really believe I have lost 90 pounds since Oct 2016...about 1-2 pounds a week...I just started eating healthy (and less), no soft drinks/sugar/fast food/carry out food and walk at least 1 hour every day and sometimes more. So keep on Sparking, you can do it, take care of yourself, and just take it one day at a time. The results will come...Sending blessings your way. ~~~Marilyn

Thanks for commenting and for your suggestions. Unfortunately we cannot go to the Pentecostal Church because of our former friend and we cannot go to Calary Church because no one was even willing to step up before and offer to take us. And Jenny does not feel comfortable going to any other church because of her weight. She is afraid people would stare at her.
