I am a Catholic homeschooling mom of three beautiful kids - well, not homeschooling anymore. I was. My baby, Danny, was diagnosed with medulloblastoma (brain cancer) in March of 2013. Since then he underwent two brain surgeries, six weeks of radiation, and over a year of chemotherapy. He was in remission for a few brief months, and then relapsed. Next he had another brain surgery and then completed a year of very difficult chemotherapy, with multiple nasty side effects. After that year, he had three blessed, beautiful years of no evidence of cancer. That ended on March 15, 2019, when he had a seizure at school, which led to a diagnosis of relapsed, inoperable, terminal cancer. That relapse, in early 2019, was successfully treated with chemo that made the cancer disappear. It bought us a year of grace. That year ended in February of 2020, when an MRI showed that the cancer was back. There was really no treatment possible. My beautiful, beloved son Danny died of brain cancer on April 17, 2020, at home, holding his big brother's hand. He was 19 years old.

"If you get there before I do
Don't give up on me.
I'll meet you when my chores are through.
I don't know how long I'll be
But I'm not gonna let you down.
Danny wait and see.
And between now and then, till I see you again I'll be loving you.
Love, Me."

My Goals:
Right now my goals are to incorporate small healthy changes. One other goal is to be able to exercise without severe pain in my hip...not sure if that is feasible with my arthritis.

My Program:
I am trying to eat more fruits and vegetables, plus walking as much as I can without pain.

Personal Information:
I am originally an Army brat and have lived in quite a few places. Currently I am in Texas. I have three kids, ages 30, 27, and forever 19. My degrees are in chemistry, but in late years I have mostly been employed in child care.

Other Information:
Strength of character isn't always about how much you can handle before you break, it's also about how much you can handle after you've broken.

Thank you for reading my blog “Which Way to Warsaw”
What a memorable Amsterdam story. You must have looked really "hip" to them.
Gotta say of all the times we have been through there, not once did I get offered anything.
We did walk with a group through the red light district. Prostitution is legal too and extremely well regulated. Nobody soliciting on the street like in US cities. Sad but it's called the "world's oldest profession" for a reason.

Thank you for reading my “Cylinder Thing” blog.
I had to learn "do it myself" hair because the smells in beauty parlors messed with my allergies. When we moved here I told my hairstylist that I would pay her for the entire treatment but I would wash my hair at home, have her cut it and blow it dry and let me out of there. At least there's no cigarette smoke to deal with anymore but I still hate the atmosphere.
I just may keep my hair long until it’s safe to travel again. It’s less trouble than I thought and there is no reason for this “hermit” to visit a hair stylist.

Thanks for letting me know what's going on in your state! It looks like about 50% of Texas's energy comes from natural gas, 20% from coal, 20% from wind and 10% from nuclear it wouldn't make sense that there would be less of any of those things in the winter. Rolling blackouts for 2021 were "predicted" if Biden was elected to prove to Americans how badly we need to support the democratic party's desire to rapidly switch to all clean energy, and a lot less of it for us common folk. This is political and all about big money and they don't care if Texans (or anyone else in America) sustains major hardships or even death to get what they want. These guys will stop at nothing- it's unconscionable. Meanwhile they fly around on their private jets and burn jet fuel like crazy whenever they want. But the plebs get no water and no heat in the worst cold snaps in the dead of winter. I bet the white house and the governors mansions across the US are never effected by "rolling blackouts." ..

Thank you for reading my blog “What are they talking about?” and sharing your story
When my DD decided to study French (HS & college) I tried to convince her that Spanish would be more useful considering where we lived. Then what a surprise when she met our Slovak relatives who didn't speak English, she was able to converse with them in French! LOL
I wish I had learned more when I was younger, but just as with a healthy lifestyle – Never too Late.
