I CAN
I can loose weight, I can get healthy, I can feel better!
If I'm not in the saddle, I'm trying to finish my website.

SparkPeople was not the beginning, and you may have noticed some pictures that I've posted from way back when.

My weightloss story.....
SparkPeople was not the beginning, and you may have noticed some pictures that I've posted from way back when.
Like most weightloss stories, mine starts with trying every diet imaginable or invented.
In 1998, I was my heaviest ever. I'd like to believe 350#, but I fear it may have been more.
Late 1999, I continued struggling to loose weight, when I finally opted to try weightloss surgery. After avoiding a scale for years, when I finally stepped on, it indicated 310# (this is my highest recorded weight). Then I had a lap band installed.
Miraculously, I was no longer hungry for the first time in my life. No hunger, no thoughts of food. Seemingly effortlessly, I dropped 2-3/week and reached 133# in no time. There I lived happily (for over 8 months) until an accident incurred internal injuries which included stomach swelling and resulted in band invasion (my stomach tore and enveloped the band).
Once again, I was continually hungry and now depressed at the band failure and rapidly gaining weight, back up to 280#.
In 2003, I had the band removed and gastric bypass performed. It was a difficult procedure because of the scaring caused by the band invasion. The bypass did not stop the hunger pains, and weightloss was slow and difficult. But I was able to maintain my weight between 210-215# for several years.
In the summer of 2008, I tried once again to diet and loose some weight. I yo-yo down to 201#, but never broke that barrier.
In January 2009, a friend talked me into joining TOPS #112. My first night, I weighed in at 209#. Over the last year I have learned to make small changes that I can live with. Which is pretty much the SparkPeople logo.
At one of the TOPS meetings, I read from an article that mentioned the free weightloss website and another member asked me to give a program on it. So in my research, I logged onto SparkPeople (at 189#) and here we are.
