Hello from Costa Rica!
This is a Costa Rican, living in Costa Rica ;-))

I'm a happy member of the 5% Challenges with the Awesome A Team. The wonderful friends I've made through Spark Teams keep me motivated. Though I'm always in a constant battle with my weight, I can say I've learned what's good for my health and what works for me not only from SparkPeople's wonderful information, excellent blogs, and superb tools but from these well-organized challenges (5%, BL, and BLC seasonal challenges).
These challenges have made this lifelong difficult journey towards a healthier me, into a more joyful one.

For the sake of my knees screaming 'lose weight, please!', I'm going to try to lose weight.

"On any one day, you can massively change the direction of your life.” ~Jim Rohn

My Goals:
To reach my normal BMI and stay there.

My Program:
*Exercise commitment:
A combination of walking/hiking/yoga stretching/pilates ST for a total of 60 to 120 m every day at least 6 days a week.
*Nutrition Commitment
To eat as healthy as possible within my calorie range to lose weight using SP.

Personal Information:
I live in Grecia, Alajuela, Costa Rica, in the mountains (at an altitude of 4757 ft). I'm 61 and married for almost 43 years. Three grown children already gone, and three grandkids. I like to help my DD with her two kids (she has a full time job). Though I'm in charge of the well being of my elderly mom with advanced vascular dementia, she's being cared for by my youngest son and his wife at their home.
My first SparkFriend on this page is my daughter and my granddaughter Desiree quite some time ago.

Other Information:
Besides my family, I enjoy my daily routine of walking, usually 1 to 2 hours, with my walking buddies or my doggies. I also like to care for my pets, 5 dogs - 3 cats, Sparking, reading, watching movies or TV series. I also love to travel overseas, but I can't afford to do it as often as I'd like to. And as of now, with COVID-19, I rather stay put in my home doing projects I enjoy.

Happy Day to you Pat. Weather has been so crazy lately. Whatever the weather is make the best of it and enjoy the day! emoticon

Take life day by day. Be grateful for the little things.
Try not to stress over what you can’t control.
If you must look back, do so forgivingly.
If you must look forward, do so optimistically.
However, the wisest thing you can do is
    BE IN THE PRESENT…..GRATEFULLY!"

It's Friday once again! I think these jokes will be just what the doctor ordered to tickle your funny bone because they're actually quite "humerous."

A mother complained to the family doctor that her daughter laid in bed all day long, and all she would eat is yeast and car wax." "What will happen to her, doctor?"
He replied, "Eventually she will rise and shine."

Funny medical one-liners, exactly as typed by medical secretaries:

Patient has left her white blood cells at another hospital.

Patient has chest pain if she lies on her left side for over a year.

On the second day the knee was better and on the third day it disappeared.

The patient has been depressed since she began seeing me in 1993.

Discharge status: Alive, but without my permission.

Patient has two teenage children, but no other abnormalities.

What did the man say to the x-ray technician after swallowing some coins?
A: "Do you see any change in me?"

Why did the doctor tell his nurse to be very quiet while walking past the supply cabinet?
A: So she wouldn't wake the sleeping pills.

Morris, an 82 year-old man, went to his doctor to get a physical. A few days later the doctor saw Morris walking down the street with a gorgeous young woman on his arm.

During his follow-up visit the following week, the doctor greeted Morris and said, "You're really doing great, aren't you?!"
Morris replied, "Just doing what you said, Doc. Get a hot mamma and be cheerful."
The doctor replied, "I didn't say that. I said, you've got a heart murmur. Be careful!"

Finally, here's your Tip of the Day . . . "Never go to a doctor whose office plants have died." - Erma Bombeck

If these jokes have given you a headache, take two aspirin, and text me in the morning.

    Enjoy your weekend!

HI Pat,, after you've been out for a walk, well as you head towards home, do you slow way down to give your body time to readjust? With fibro it helps me if I go slower and give my body the time. Dr said if I did a cool down I'd be that much better off. I heard it, but I am not good at it.
