Jan. 2021 - I’m doing my third 5% Challenge. I think I’m very close to a healthy maintenance weight. I’ve managed to undo the holiday weight gain. It takes complete focus! I reached my 65 lb. weight loss mark. I never would have thought I was that much overweight.

*** My 2020 journey:
I'm reclaiming my life - in more ways than one. I'm establishing new goals, experiences and friendships. It is time for me to be happy. I now know that I am in control of MY destiny and it is up to me to shape it the way I want. Let the journey begin!

April 16, 2020 - back at square one. Never give up! Weight: 214.

May 2020. I took a break from SP, gained weight, stopped regularly exercising and deleted all my posts, pictures, SP teams and more. So many things to regret! Now a month back in, ten pounds off my body, and improved fitness and health. Thank you willpower and SP.

June 2020. I am down 20 pounds and feel great! Researching diet study evidence by Dr. Jason Fung is sure an eye opener. Carbs, not fat, is what has caused the obesity epidemic. Diabetics taking insulin gain weight! Who knew! They don't tell you that. I am avoiding a family history of diabetes by taking charge now, reducing carbs to between 30-40%, not 50%. I don't need to do extreme KETO as my body can handle carbs, for now.

July 2020. 30 pounds less! Look at my photo for before and after. Chubby cheeks - gone! Wrote a blog of how this came to be. I’m a happy lady.

August 2020 - 40 lbs gone. I can hardly believe it is this easy. (Only easy with 100% commitment.)

September 2020 - 50 lbs gone. I made my goal! IF works for me! Adjustment #3 - lose ten more.

October 2020 - Met my third goal - 60 lbs! I’m loving my new SP friends, teams, challenges and encouragements. Coming here is my daily “must do.”

November 2020 - already learning that maintenance is not easy! I will keep Sparking, with your help! I love the maintenance ticker - set to 149 - with a little wiggle room.

Dec. 2020 - my new goal is in sight! Daily exercise, food tracking, reduced processed foods (& carbs) and intermittent fasting is my magic trick combo for weight loss. But really, it’s not a trick.

Nov. 2020 - Be healthy, happy and live to enjoy a very long retirement. Maintain my weight loss and continue to track my food and exercise.

1. Journal my eating and be involved with my Spark Friends and Teams everyday!
2. Share my challenges with others and avoid sabotaging my efforts.
3. Walk and exercise more!

I have three amazing children who are just finding their way in the world and sailing their way to amazing places. I am retired from a 33-year career of high school teaching, which I loved! I have a studio full of so much art potential, just waiting for me to go in and be creative!

    You are right about the calories and protein. I need to increase both of them even if it slows down my weight loss. I have been losing my hair (about 50%) for several months. I have entered two videos in the FORUM: The Science of Fasting
    TOPIC: Hair Loss May/Will Happen
    that explain why we lose hair after we lose weight. I was so relieved to find out why. I thought it was because I'm getting older and that still may be part of my problem. This is why I have changed my Micro Goal too. I have not been taking Collagen or Biotin on a regular basics either.

    I'm so excited about this information. I had been researching this subject for months. I just happened across these 2 videos night before last at 5 AM doing reach on nutrition (my favorite subject).

    I just wanted to let you know that you have been right this whole time and I didn't drought that but I didn't tie it to hair loss. I was trying to lose weight faster. I'm no stranger to losing my hair because I was bald in 1992 after chemo. But, this time was different, I couldn't figure out why, except my age.

    Anyway, take a look when you have time and you will see what I'm talking about. I just hope this information helps others that may be losing their hair.
