As of today, May 20, 2020 my user name is SeniorSaxLady. Decided to change it since I'm back to my sax playing once again.

Hi everyone and welcome to my LIFE.. I'm a 71 year old, happily married woman of 40 years living in Central Fl. I'm a mom to our feline named Max. I've been a member of Spark since August 6, 2006. When I joined Spark, I weighed 150 pounds which was the most I ever weighed. My weight today is 125. I have to watch my weight since I was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes in June of 2015. So far I'm not on medication, and I hope to keep it that way. Then in September of 2017 I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA) and Osteo-arthritis and I am on methotrexate for that. It is imperative I keep my joints moving. I have a peddling machine here at home that i plan on using 6 days a week.

I love music and up until February of 2019 I played alto saxophone in my church's "House Band" as our Bishop named us. My church is St. Mary's Episcopal in Dade Ciry, Fl. Because of all my physical challenges, it became harder for me to go to rehearsal Sat. mornings and also play Sunday mornings. By Monday I was exhausted. I was becoming quite undependable and that is not fair to my music director or the band. God and I decided it was time to step down. It was a very difficult decision, but I am at peace now. I will keep playing at home, and will play a solo once in a while when my music director asks me to.

Here are a few of my favorite music quotations.

"Music is the prayer the heart sings." Unknown

"Music is a moral law. It gives soul to the universe, wings to the mind, flight to the imagination, and charm and gaiety to life and to everything." - Plato

"Music is your own experience, your thoughts, your wisdom. If you don't live it, it won't come out of your horn."... Charlie Parker
*************************
A Cat's Prayer

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray this cushy life to keep.
I pray for toys that look like mice,
And sofa cushions, soft and nice.
I pray for gourmet kitty snacks,
And someone nice to scratch my back,
For windowsills all warm and bright,
For shadows to explore at night.
I pray I'll always stay real cool
And keep the secret feline rule
To NEVER tell a human that
The world is really ruled by CATS!

You can’t picture DON’T in your mind. If you say, “I don’t want to have debt”, you’re picturing debt! Instead, say, “I want to be financially free”, or “I want to be wealthy”. That’s how you want to picture yourself. Michael Hubbard
