Onward Through the Fog
Focused on improving my health through nutritian, exercise and medical care and preparing for retirement through reduced spending, increased saving and investing.
I began the Nutrisystem Flex Program in Mid January 2013. I am almost at my first goal is to lose 30 lbs. by July 4, 2013.
My next Goal is to lose 16 lbs. by October 20, 2013 - my 59th birthday.
On my flex days I am following a high nutritian, low fat plant based diet espoused by the Esselstyns and Joel ...
Focused on improving my health through nutritian, exercise and medical care and preparing for retirement through reduced spending, increased saving and investing.
I began the Nutrisystem Flex Program in Mid January 2013. I am almost at my first goal is to lose 30 lbs. by July 4, 2013.
My next Goal is to lose 16 lbs. by October 20, 2013 - my 59th birthday.
On my flex days I am following a high nutritian, low fat plant based diet espoused by the Esselstyns and Joel Fuhrman. When I reach my goal weight I plan to transition to a completely Vegetarian or Vegan diet.
Some of the resources I am using are Forks over Knives Cookbook, the Engine 2 Diet and the Whole Foods Health Starts Here Program.
At 58 years old, my health challenges are Rhuematoid Arthritis, Osteopenia and chronic obesity. For the past few years my total cholesterol has risen to approaching 200 and I began taking a low dose statin in 2012.
My personal challenge is to increase my stamina and mobility so that when I retire in 2017 I can travel and garden. While I have no problems with the tasks of basic living, largely because my job is entirely sedentary. When I began this walking even a mile is a challenge for me but early in the program after losing only 13 lbs. my gastric reflux resolved and my stamina improved dramatically. Resources I am using are "Classical Stretch" on PBS and Rebounding.

In maintenance I plan to be Vegetarian or Vegan following a diet like Nutritarian (Dr Fuhrman, Dr Esselstyn, Rip Esselstyn, and Mrs. Dr. Esselstyn (Rip's mother) too - love her recipes and posts on the Engine 2 blog.
