NO EXCUSES!
Well, it's 2015 and it's time for another update! I did reach my goal in 2009 and I maintained for a few years, and then I started making excuses. Not only that I broke my foot and was on non weight bearing between a cast and boot for about 2 months, in which my exercise consisted of hoofing my body up my staircase so i could sleep in my bed. My good habits at that point were broken and I found my self a year later with 28 of the pounds back on me! I couldn't seem to get a grip and get back ...
I couldn't seem to get a grip and get back with the program, but I felt unhappy with where I was at. That's not enough as you have to be the one to do something about it. I was in a very stressful job also, where i was not appreciated and began stress eating out of control. One day the light came on and I knew I had to leave my job, so I transferred to another location within the system and that was the start of starting over. I never left Sparkpeople.com as I have met too many wonderful people on this site! I did however start leaning towards those good habits I learned on here years ago. It's never too late to start over! I started to lose weight, exercise more, and have kicked that up a notch higher since then. I did however hit a plateau and joined Weight Watcher's with a Sparkfriend. I'm
happy to say that I have hit my goal again, and hope to never go back I'm so glad I found this site and the wonderful and encouraging people I have met here. I'm glad in spite of gaining the weight back, I never left the site. They say if you want to do great things, you have to hang around with great people! I know I have found some here!
Happy Sparking People! You can do it! If I could do it twice you certainly have NO EXCUSES!
Well, It's been almost two years and I finally hit my goal on New Years Eve 2009. It's great to be able to fit in those old clothes. My oldest daughter brought me a pair of size 10 jeans and I didn't think I would ever be able to fit in them, but the day I hit my goal they fit. Plus my Pastor's wife brought me size 8 dresses and surprisingly they fit, too! I haven't been able to wear these sizes since High School, and Lord knows that's been awhile! It's a dream come true! One I would have never accomplished without Sparkpeople.com, the support of the people here, and my family and friends cheering me on!!! It's taken a little longer than my original goal, but, I've had a lot of obstacles to overcome.
I have struggled with my weight ever since the birth of my first child. I guess as you get older you tend to be less active. I believe this played a big part in my weight roller coaster, the less active part that is. Also my Father was Italian and eating is a social affair. I use to be able to eat for hours and not gain a pound. My friend use to be so jealous, but low and behold it finally caught up to me. Anyway I still seem to struggle staying on a regular exercise program, but I believe I will eventually overcome that too. I really don't mind exercise, but there never seems to be enogh hours in a day for everything.
I'm very thankful that a sales rep from another company told me about Sparkpeople.com. It really is an awesome program. I sent it to my Pastor's wife and she joined just recently. We were talking about it the other day about how it is a lifestyle change and not a diet. Today someone else at church approached us about the weight loss and Jos said, "It gives you perimeters and you have to stay within them!" Wow that was simple, but true. I think this applies to anything in life. Although it's up to all of us to carry out our own plan, and stay within our perimeters. Only I can be accountable for myself. And most of all stop making excuses!
Well, I'm excited about reacing my big goal. My oldest daughter has joined also. She's done an awesome job before she started Sparks, but wants to lose more weight. My husband has lost 22 lbs, just by me cooking differently. My youngest has also dropped a few lbs also. We're all doing it!
