Yes, I have tried a number of diets. Only two have worked. One was when I simply reduced the amount I was eating for a long time. I was eating very healthily, but I was SO hungry ALL the time... I found myself looking in the oven for my shoes and in the fridge for my briefcase. I found myself pacing in the kitchen. I exercised 2 hours daily 5 times a week. I lost the weight very slowly, but in the end, I looked great and I was thin again. It took a year. And because I was STILL ALWAYS HUNGRY, I slowly slipped into eating a little more, and a little more.... and ever so slowly, I regained some weight; and then I got pregnant, and that was the end of that! I've fought the weight for 20 years, never winning until I tried ATKINS. With Atkins, I could eat and not be hungry and still lose weight. The only thing I have to give up is food that I shouldn't eat anyway (french fries, and doughnuts, and sugar in its many forms...) Mind you, I am a sugar addict, so even though I was totally successful and happy on Atkins once, it is not totally easy to avoid sugar in this society! DH ASKED me to regain some weight, and I was an IDIOT and I did (by eating sugar) to please him -- but once sugar sunk its claws into me I could not turn away until I had regained much more than I wanted... so here I am again -- fighting the sugar addiction and trying to be thin again. I NEVER want to go back to being hungry all the time. I'll stay with Atkins, Thank you very much. Once ALL the weight is lost, it is a VERY healthy way of eating -- one I can do for the rest of my life. I CAN'T stay hungry for the rest of my life!
Incidentally, you say you've been on many diets. As a consequence, I assume you've been OFF many diets. That means you couldn't stay on them, and you probably found that, sooner or later, you regained the weight you lost when you went off whatever diet it was. If you return to old ways of eating, the old pounds do come back, huh?! It doesn't matter WHAT diet it is, if you don't follow it, the pounds come back. But people say that about Atkins like it isn't true of all diets! I wonder why.
Nevertheless! Different strokes for different folks! I will never be a skinny Housewife from Anywhere eating only a grilled chicken breast and a salad, hold-the-dressing. I enjoy food. I don't HAVE 2 hours anymore to exercise daily. That's funny, I just realized the chicken and salad lunch is valid on Atkins! Whatever... I get to have the dressing too on Atkins!
ANYWAY... other people, like my husband, eat to live. Food taste isn't particularly important. And other people, exercise so much they have to eat lots just to maintain weight... And some people can't live without starches and grains and carbs, and others are carnivores, and others are.... you get my drift. WHATEVER WORKS FOR YOU! 3875 days ago
