I view fitness and good health as a joyful process, not a required goal. I love cooking and eating fresh, natural meals. I'm a big fan of breakfast and yoga stretches to start off every morning.

I push myself to improve just a little bit more every day. I'm addicted to "mud runs" (5 or 10k with military obstacles). I also work out so that I have the power and strength to snowboard, rock climb, and dance (hip-hop and bellydance).

But I haven't always been so fit...

In college, I never went to the gym and ate plenty of potatoes & gravy at the dining hall. My friend LOVED to run, and she used to encourage me to run with her, but gosh I hated it so much. I couldn't catch my breath, I hated pounding against the pavement, and I was convinced that "runner's high" was a myth.

After college, I discovered that if I want to have energy to do the things I love, I had to get off the couch. Now I try to make my workouts fun so that I look forward to them instead of dreading and avoiding them. As I always try to remember: fitness should be a joy, not a punishment!

Fitness Minutes: 13,340

My Goals:
- run a 5K (done!)
- run a 10K
- snowboarding lessons again next winter
- balance in a handstand (update! I can balance in a headstand now...getting closer to the handstand!)
- 5 full chin-ups in a row (I'm up to 3)

My Program:
- hip-hop dance or zumba class twice a week.
- Yoga...10-15 minutes every morning, hour class once a week.
- Pilates twice a week.
- running once to twice a week.
- Hiking whenever there's a chance. ;]

Personal Information:
Living it up in the balmy breezes of beautiful Los Angeles.

    Thank you for commenting on m no drugs or supplements blog. so many people want to be healthy but wont make but in the effort or develop healthy habits so they look for drugs. i am glad to find someone who knows i want healthy habits.

    Congrats on being motivator of the day! Loved your picture that is awesome... just as inspirational as Linda Hamilton's...Congrats!!! "TURBO-GIRL" name caught my eye....I actually love TURBO KICK classes...and have a TURBO GIRL decal on the back of my truck :) LOL Thanks for telling your story...pushing yourself to improve just a little bit more every day...is such great advice. Yoga is something I've been meaning to get around to and just haven't found the time...you inspired me to squeeze it in...10-15 minutes in the morning I should be able to do that! Thanks!!!
