bummer night

I am on here tonight after trying to be the good samaritan. A dog showed up on my front porch, with no tags, so we took it in because the animal shelter doesn't work at night. He did great with my rottie. But he went after the stray cat that stays in the "cat condo" I made on the back porch. this cat wasn't afraid of dogs, because my rottie played nice with him. The stray dog, attacked and killed the cat. cat made it all the way to the emergency vet before giving in. I feel very sad, this cat was my dog's best friend, but if he'd been more wary, he never would have went and tried to checkout the strange dog. Hubbie chewed my butt for allowing the dog in the house. What was I supposed to do?? Just let him wander along the streets to get hit, or who knows?? But now I feel like it's my fault. Darned if you do, darned if you don't. Not to mention the darn allergies that have mysteriously arrived!! I have one dog and 7 cats, with no allergy issues, this one shows up and bam my nose is running, I'm constantly sneezing and my eyes are burning.
I want some junk food, preerably chocolate fudge cake. But I'm gonna make some hot peppermint tea, and hava yogurt instead.
