Happy Birthday To Me!

Monday, March 31, 2008

Today I turned 54. As with all my birthdays I take a type of measurement of myself. I see birthdays as a measuring tool that gives me the opportunity to evaluate my life over the past year and then to make adjustments in my life and set new goals for the next year.

Over the past year, of the new goals that I set out for myself, I have succeeded at some, others are still on going and a couple I have failed at. The ones that are on going I will continue to strive for completion. The ones that I failed at I will look at what I did wrong, evaluate my options as to what I can do to turn the failures into successes and then implement the failures back into my goals and move forward.

Hmmm, some of you may think that what I am doing is nothing more than a New Year's resolution. Nah, I don't think so. New Year's resolutions usually don't involve an evaluation of one's past year. The resolutions are many times made over the last week or two of the old year and then announced on New Year's Eve. Then many are forgotten one month down the road until the following New Year's Eve when the process starts over again.

One of my new goals has sprung from being on Spark People. Each day I will look for a message that has only the initial post and respond to that person. There is nothing worse than to post something seeking help and to have no one respond. This will let that person know that someone does care about their feelings and concerns. Perhaps just that one response may mean the difference between whether a person feels they can succeed or fail on here. Either way, I have nothing to lose by responding and everything to gain.

My other new goal for this year is to continue on Spark People with the learning and loosing process. And this time, I know I will succeed on the loosing and learning!

My day was spent with my daughter and my grandkids and then later with friends. Who could ask for anything better?

You have a great page and philosophy, I also respond to people that don't have any posts. It sounds like you had a great BDay!
I turned 65 and my daughter had a surprise dinner with all my grandkids (5). I could not have been happier. I think SP is a great website. I am still meeting people and ran across yours on a nutrition page I think and it made me laugh! So I said I have to respond to this neat lady.
    Take care emoticon

Happy Birthday! I think it is great what you are doing and I admire your positive attitude. I know that you are going to be very successful. We are almost the same age. I will be 55 in June. Again, Happy Birthday and hope you had a nice day celebrating.

Happy Birthday! What a great thing to do for yourself on your birthday! I try to take a few minutes each night to see if there are any first time bloggers or titles that catch my eye - like yours did! I hope you are blessed with a wonderful year.

    Hugs! Beverly
