I met with the nutritionist and the surgeon this morning - and had my first fill.
I love, love, love my surgeon. He is awesome!
First, I saw the nutritionist - she wants me to add 1/2 cup of veggies to my lunch and dinner -- and add 1 fruit a day. Hmmm. I will have to figure out how to make that happen. I have been militant on following the "3 meals, one cup at a meal, starting with protein first" rule. In other words, in the four weeks post surgery I have not had much veggies, fruits at all - just protein like fish, greek yogurt, dark meat chicken. That is why I have lost just shy of 13 lbs. since surgery! I also need to add some olive oil to my veggies, as I am getting almost no fats in my diet at all.
She also said to up my calories (I try to average 700 - 800 calories a day, all protein mostly, with 70-90 grams of protein daily). When she said the goal is 1300 - 1500 calories I gasped and said, No Way that is happening! LOL.
I then saw my Dr. who is tickled pink at my progress. He said to keep on doing what I am doing, but NOT to increase my calories. He has a band, too, by the way. He said that he lives on 800 calories a day because it is ALL nutritious, (protein) no empty calories at all -- and says I am doing things perfectly. He agrees to add in the veggies/1 fruit tho and the olive oil.
The fill was, um, interesting. The Dr. does not use the fluoroscope -- he positions his ports in an uncommon place -- just to the right of the belly button. Then again, he only uses 2 laparoscopic incisions, as well, instead of the 4 or 5 the other surgeons use. So he said, "you will feel a wee pinch" and yes, I did, but it was totally okay. I think he put in a 3cc fill. As I had lost quite a bit during the post-op phase there was no need to be more aggressive in this first fill.
Oh -- and he cleared me 100% for all activities (hiking, elliptical, weight training, etc.) so I am totally psyched to get this body toned and slim!
I am on my way! Liquids only today and tomorrow, then mushies on Saturday and Sunday.
