New Year, New Me?

Saturday, January 02, 2010

I have been a member of SparkPeople for over seven weeks. During that time, I have made changes to my life. I have completely stopped drinking pop and have substituted water. That is really big for me, as Diet Coke has been a mainstay in my diet for 40 years! The amazing thing is...I don't miss it. I also feel like I am developing more sensible eating habits. I've learned not to be afraid of fats, although I must admit I have to work at getting in the minimum allotment. Out of habit, I shop for low fat foods, and sometimes the only way I can get enough fat in the day is to eat some pecans.
I have really worked on exercising regularly. I worked out today only because of my goals on SP. Otherwise, I wouldn't have bothered. Tomorrow starts BootCamp. I am going to stick with it. My arthritic hips might have something to say about the intensity, but I know I will keep moving.
God willing, I still have many years to live and I want to live them to the fullest with lots of energy.

Congratulations! Having lots of energy and living life to the fullest is definitely a good goal.

I found that I really didn't get into the whole healthy lifestyle mentality until I started exercising. Exercising just makes me feel like I'm doing something productive--I need that action instead of the inaction of not eating something, if that makes sense. I hope you get that same feeling from BootCamp and your exercise program.
