after visit with my endocrinologist on Wednesday!
My appointment started off with the usual weigh-in. I kicked off my shoes and stepped on the scale. I didn’t dare move the bottom marker to 150 from its position at 200. The nurse immediately slid the top marker over until she realized she was going in the wrong direction. She followed up with an “oh wow” when she got to the end. I think that was a hint that she looked at my previous weight. She moved the bottom marker to 150 and slid the top marker over to the right until she found the right weight at 187. She followed up with more praise that I immediately soaked up. I finally asked what my previous weight had been in December and found that I was actually heavier than I thought, 217. I had never seen that number before at home. I started this journey at 212 on my home scale. Of course I was so shocked by the 217 that I didn’t do any calculations in my head. After all, I already knew I had lost 25 lbs.
When the doctor stepped in the room she immediately acknowledged that I had been working really hard and congratulated me on my weight loss. She immediately sat down and did the mental calculation and said “that’s 30 lbs!” So now I was shocked again. I had never lost that much before.
My doctor told me she was so proud of me at least three times during my visit. That meant so much to me. I had blood drawn during my visit and can hardly wait to hear from her to get my results. I love that she calls me personally and am hoping for more praise on number improvements.
I am disappointed with ONE thing during my appointment, my weigh-in. Why? I was running late for my appointment and didn’t take the time to put my car keys in my purse and left them in my jean’s pocket and I didn’t get a chance to empty my full bladder. Surely those two things made a difference in the scale reading.
One can only hope for that to be the most disappointing part of ALL doctor’s appointments.
