The Evolution of a Spark person (me!)
Monday, May 17, 2010
I was thinking about my "life as a Sparkperson" as evidenced by the Sparkteams which I have joined (and unjoined).
At first, I was all excited about the sparkpeople.com site and all it had to offer. With starry eyes, I joined about 10 different teams... a book club team (I love to read), a WW team (I was also counting points), a Thyroid team (I have half a thyroid), a Cholesterol team (I have high cholesterol), a few more.
Then I connected with a friend from high school who is a very engaged and successful sparkperson. So I joined a few of the teams that he is on.
I unjoined a few teams... goodbye book club team... I wasn't reading those books. Goodbye Thyroid team.... I have half a thyroid but it is working fine....
Now, I find myself inactive in about half my teams and REALLY interested and active in about five of them. A few location specific teams. A meditation team. A treaddesk team. A half marathon team. Two walking teams (only need one of them). I have unjoined the WW team, but still get EXCELLENT daily emails from that team leader. What a gift she has been!
It's been a few years. I now log onto Sparkpeople every single day. I really feel Sparkpeople can be an anchor in my life and a way to form habits around logging my fitness, my nutrition, my wellness... a place where I can encourage others, and get suppport.
I'm going to really look at MY teams. Things change. I should look for teams that motivate and balance me. I should do this every few months. Tweak things here and there. This can really renew my Sparkpeople interest.
