A Crisis- My Scale Broke!

Saturday, July 10, 2010

A funny story...at least one that made my husband laugh.

It's hot in South Carolina. It's humid. Going out of the house to run errands requires me to muster some energy and resolve. Not because I'm tired, but because I hate getting all sweaty. I can live off brown rice if I don't feel like going to the grocery store.

However, the other morning I stepped on my scale. A beautiful, wonderful number came up. I looked at the scale and realized (unhappily) that it couldn't be correct. I got off the scale. I got back on. The number was now 15 pounds higher. Well, on a positive note, I knew that number was also incorrect (happily).

Without hesitating, I rushed and got dressed and headed to Wal-Mart. I can live without food. I can even live without soda. But without a scale? Not going to happen. I purchased a scale, and rushed back to the house to get weighed. Luckily, I was happy with the number.

Is anyone else out there too scale dependent?

I actually avoided my scale for a year and a half and I got in trouble (which means I gained some of the 30 lbs back that I had lost on SP). So now I am pretty religious about going on it at least every few days. I don't really like it but it's a necessary evil. Not, I know, the whole story but at least it is a benchmark of where you are and I need to pay heed. Measurements and feeling healthy are just as important but yes, I would say at the moment I am scale dependent! emoticon It's a love-hate relationship. emoticon emoticon Good blog!!
