I'm back!

Okay…so I haven’t blogged in a while and I’ve been MIA on the boards due to some personal issues that are going on in my life. I’ve had back to back injuries that have kept me from my usual running routine, a crazy busy work schedule and have almost fully re-cooperated from the sinus infection/severe cold that I came down with immediately after Thanksgiving. It’s time to get serious again about my weight loss and my training. Even with the blast of frigid air that Florida has experienced with week, I managed to get out of the office at lunchtime and run 2 miles, twice this week. My times were pretty good considering the lay-off and I think I need to start setting my 2011 race calendar. I achieved most of my goal of running a 5k a month to most of 2010. Now it’s time to bump it up a notch. While still trying to complete at least one 5k per month I’m also going to extend my mileage and shoot for a half marathon next fall. I figure that should give me plenty of time to safely get back into shape with hopefully a minimum of injury. My son is graduating from high school in June and is enlisting in the Marines, so in his honor, I’ve decided to register for the Jacksonville Marine Corps Half Marathon in October. I only hope I do him half as proud as he has made me with his decision. I can tell you that this will be a huge motivator for me to stay on track. If anyone out there has run this course before and/or can give me some insight on my training, etc., please feel free to contact me.
