The Body Type Diet

Wednesday, February 09, 2011

I bought the book, The Body Type Diet. My mom has been eating as a result of her body type and is dropping weight very rapidly! She approached me about trying it because I have been working my butt off and it isn't going anywhere. In fact, I have lost nearly nothing in 6 months! I tracked my calories and still nothing! Well, I bought the book out of desperation and I am a little shocked at how well my body type describes me. I am an A (adrenal) Type. I am built like a brick, strong and solid. My body type is naturally resistant to losing weight (which explains the lack of movement on the scale). My cholesterol is also slightly high and the Dr. only gave me 6 months to get it below the cut off. Apparently, the fact that I really don't indulge in sweets a lot is normal for my body type. I thought that I was just strong when it comes to sweets, turns out my weakness is more along the lines of fat, salt and cheese....YEP! I LOVE my melted ham and cheese bagel at breakfast! Well, long story short, as a result of my body type I MUST cut out red meat, animal fat and salt! It has been two days without adding salt to my food and eating primarily a vegetarian diet. Now, I was raised on a ranch and the idea of being a vegetarian scares me to death! I miss it already! I want butter and cheese and a T-Bone! I am eating plenty but O MAN I am hungry! The book says that if I eat for my type then I will loose 4% of my body weight the first week and 2% every week after! I guess I can suffer until my desire goes away! On Monday I will know if my week as a semi-vegetarian was worth it!

Interesting, you will have to keep us updated on your progress. My mom-in-law is going to an older experieced chiropractor that stesses the usual naturopathic healing. He did some tests on her and when he was done it showed stomach, heart, adrenal glands, and medication sensitivity problems. Her worst one was wheat and gluten then processed white sugar and preservatives. He wants her to try not to eat bread, crackers, or anything with wheat for 3 weeks and see what happens. She has been a yo-yo dieter since I met her 15 yrs ago. I sure hope it helps her. We all lose weight in different ways, you just need to find out what works for you and so do I.

I changed my diet and only eat red meat once or twice a month. It has really helped my cholesterol. I too have high cholesterol and was on Lipitor...may be again soon....but after a period of time it makes me hurt all over and I lose the desire to do anything.
Let me know how this diet works for you as I am keenly interested. emoticon

You can get absolutely ALL of the nutrition you need from a vegetarian and even a vegan diet. I have been both over the years, am an omnivore now but only eat meat 2-3 times a week. I know that you can make changes to your SP Meal Plans to reflect your vegetarianism. The hardest part of the transition the first time I did it (back in high school) was learning what to eat. The SP Meal Plans can help you with that so that you have a place to start while you're educating yourself.

Have fun with it! Try new foods. Think of it as an adventure!

Good luck. It certainly never hurts to make healthy choices, although it would be hard to go vegetarian-ish for very long. I hope it works for you.
