My Darling Daughter

Sunday, May 08, 2011

Today is Mother's Day. I was able to spend the entire weekend with just my daughter and I. She just turned 9 yrs. old. We had a great time together. Got everything done yesterday with chores and shopping so that today we could relax and enjoy our time together.

It was getting close to her bedtime (it's a school night still) and she was doing her normal koala bear. I call her my koala bear because she sits on me like a koala bear hugging a eucalyptus tree :) Tonight, she started to cry.... I asked her what's wrong and she says that she's going to miss me...

I said, honey I'll see you after school tomorrow.... she says, no I'm going to miss you when I'm older and when I don't have you anymore. She says grandma just died and I don't want to be your age and then you die. I'll miss you too much. And then she just starts crying and crying. Of course I cry too.

I try to tell her not to worry so far ahead. There are soooo many years to enjoy together. You're only 9 !!! I told her look how much fun we had yesterday and today... enjoy that. Then she says, but it's already a memory....and she just keeps crying and saying she's going to miss me....

I love her SO much and she loves me just as much. If that's not a wake up call to get my butt in gear and stay healthy, I don't know what else is.

She is 9 yrs old; I wasn't worrying about things like that when I was 9 ! If I left the world because of my selfish stupid unhealthy mistakes, that would DEVESTATE and effect my daughter for the rest of her life. I CANNOT do that to her.

I WILL NOT do that to her.....

Your daughter has such a huge heart ~ it must come from you! She is awesome motivation for you to live a healthy lifestyle for! Remind yourself of her when your motivation for exercise is low and the food that you eat. Take care of yourself so that you can be with her as long as possible ~ she truly loves you and needs you ~ congrats on raising such a beautiful daughter!

She's stunning! This realization will pass, but she is coming to an age when she can wrap her mind around these realities for what they are, and we all know they are, inevitably unpleasant. We can't protect our children from this forever, but we can assure them that we love them, and to treasure every day until our time here is done.

I have often maintained that I am like a puppy dog for my master (God). I will play as much as I'm allowed to here, and do what He asks me to do when He's here. Sometimes, He is not here, but like many puppy dog's masters here on earth I must do the right thing even when I can't see Him. When the time comes that He is on the other side of the door, and I scratch at the door long enough for Him to open it, I will rush to the other side to be with Him.....happily ever after.

    Perhaps this will help?
