Doesn't matter what the scale says

I haven't weighed myself in over a week. I was afraid that the scale will either show that I didn't lose as fast as I want or worse, that I gained a pound or two! If that happened in the past, I would jump off the bandwagon and binge, or I'd talk myself into quitting entirely. That's because other "diets" left me feeling deprived and weight loss was supposed to be my reward for all the sacrifices I was making.

This morning I woke up feeling great. Usually I wake up feeling as if I was hit by a truck. I can never schedule anything before 11 am because of extreme fatigue. Not so this morning. I had some energy, no headache, no pain. I felt lighter. I thought about the scale. It's not necessary to weigh myself often, because even if I didn't lose weight, my health has improved. I know that with this eating plan it's inevitable that I will lose weight. So, the scale can wait.

    If you are feeling lighter and waking up better, then this plan is working. Keep up the great job! I need to not watch the scale as much but it calls to me! Glad this plan is making it so you don't binge or quit. You need to do this for your health. Keep reminding yourself of that reason!

    Hi Gabby,

    When I was younger I was on Weight Watchers and that weigh-in
    was do or die. If I "cheated" during the week, I would give up as I knew my weigh-in would not go well. I have a scale that if
    I move it from room to room in my apartment I can easily gain or loose pounds. Also women's bodies retain water for all kinds of reasons.
    SO, when I joined Sparks I decided no to use a scale. I can see that I am losing weight when I look at myself upfront and personal in the mirror or by my clothes. If I have a bad meal,
    I start again right in the next moment. Gabby, I feel free and not on a diet at all.
    I wish you well. With or without the scale I will be rooting for you until you reach your finish line and then after to make sure you stay that way.

    emoticon I finally came to that conclusion when I had my physical on Monday. Dr said stop worrying about the scale I am no longer overweight in my BMI and blood work came back fine.

    but I have a confession to make I have weighted in every morning and still want "my perfect weight"

    I made the same decision awhile back. I only weigh in once a month but I take my measurements every two weeks. It takes a lot of the pressure off and helps me focus on the importance of making this a lifestyle change, not a diet.
