Anniversary weekend :)

Well, it was amazing :)
We got on the road about 3:30 on Friday afternoon. It was rainy really bad from here to Greensboro so our 2 and 3/4 hour trip turned into 3 and 1/2 hour trip but we didn't care. We were on vacation and nothing could put us in a bad mood!
Our dog didn't know what had happened. He has grown up in Raleigh and never been out of the city so when we let him out at the mountain cabin he spend the hour sniffing.
We spent most of the weekend down by the river with the pup. We sat on the bank reading books we never get around to reading in our busy lives interrupted only to go in the river and play with Scruff. The other time was spend walking the trail to see who was up for the weekend. Anytime someone was home we'd stop by for a neighborly chat on their front porch. Everyone is so nice up there. We stopped by to say hello to one of our "neighbors" and I left with 3 new books! She said she had read them already and that I could sent them back with my grandma.
Our anniversary was Sunday so we spent the day at the river, took a long walk down the road/path the leads to the main road, then came home to shower off the day. That night we fixed a fresh salad, filet mignon, corn on the cob and baked potatoes. YUM! We toasted with some authentic champagne then watched our wedding DVD. It was so much fun to look back on what happened just one year before. We couldn't believe that it had already been a year but it was an amazing year and we look forward to a lifetime more of anniversaries!
We were quite naughty that night because our cake vendor made us an anniversary cake so that we wouldn't have to freeze our top tier. We ate it and it was good.
Here are a few pics from the weekend.
Brenden and Scruff in the water for the first time. We weren't sure how he was going to be off the leash but we let him loose about 30 minutes later and he was great :)
Scruff returning a stick to me after I threw it in the river for him:
Brenden and I with our amazing anniversary cake. They even made it look like our wedding cake! You can't see all the vines and branches at the bottom but it was beautiful.
So that was the jist of our weekend. We had a blast and we are already planning our next trip to 'Murphy Mountain'...haha, that's what we call the cabin because my grandparents name is Murphy. We're thinking Labor Day weekend with 6 of our friends would be nice...
