water

Monday, September 19, 2011

I'm learning that I do better at drinking my water if I'm home, with a 2 qt pitcher of water beside me, and I work my way through it in the course of the day. A good day is when I refill the pitcher and keep working through at least half of it again.

Well - last week, I hardly got any water in... (less than 2 cups all week) It was hectic and I was away from home most of the time... For me, it's difficult drinking water... I don't like it, I'm not magnetized toward it in any way. I'm noticing, too, that with the cooler weather, it's harder to want to drink water...
Anyway - I finally am getting it in again today! 8 cups! emoticon

So - after a lifetime of people telling me to drink water, I finally met a dr who says I don't have to drink water. She's not my regular dr, and since I lost weight when I drank more water... I'll keep working on drinking water.

Now - my cats on the other hand... they think it's great that I'm drinking water - in fact, they try to drink out of my glass! It doesn't matter at all that there is a large metal pan of water on a rubber pad (my hubby's cat tends to pull the water off the counter, thus all the precautions) for them to drink out of anytime they want.. and it's kept fresh!

NO.... they don't want THAT water... they want mine... so I have a small custard bowl that I keep near me. When they hear me pour my water they jump up expecting some... so I pour them some, too. This has not made my hubby happy - because how we're situated causes the cat's behind up front and personal for him... so, we continue to adjust it.. and I have to keep a close eye on Runt so he doesn't knock it over...

Hmmm... hubby says they're spoiled.... hmmmm LOL

I love the cat story - they can be so funny at times. It is nice that they are keeping you company in your water drinking goal. I am sure you all will feel much healthier getting your water in.......and out! ;D

I also don't like plain water. I drink lots of iced tea but water, it's a struggle. The cat I'm "cat sitting" for had better NOT jump up on my counter or she'll hear from ME!

I found some one quart bottles with "nipples" on the end. I put an inch to two inches of water in them and put them in the freezer. In the mothing I fill the first one and then switch out. they are a pretty good size to carry around w/o too much effort and on a good day I have an hour to two hrs before the ice finishes melting. I thinking drinking water is a reminder each drink that you are making healthy choices, and I think that many of us have confused hunger and thirst in the past. When we make sure we don't feel thirst, we can start responding better to hunger.

I am glad that you are getting your water back in. I have a 1 qt hiking bottle/plastic with a screw on top, that I take with me now where ever I go, even to church. And it is orange. I was glad I had it with me today when I was shopping, because I was really sweating, and needed to replenish my fluids in my body.
I always notice a difference in my weight loss when I keep up on my water.

So glad to find someone else who has as much problem getting their 8 cups a day as I do. Everyone I know loves water; I've never liked it. I have to put lemon slices in it to get it down. Just like you, I do better when I'm home; when I'm at work or out somewhere, I just don't think about it -- until I'm thirsty, and they say it's way too late by then.

My doctor told me that any liquids serve the purpose; but then I've heard that the kidneys benefit from just getting a good rinse from clear water--they don't have to "work" to process it. And we know juices have a lot of sugar--and we're trying to lose weight!

Let's just keep plugging along doing the best we can. Anyway amount of water will be a win for us.
