My Happy Valentine's Day
Tuesday, February 14, 2012
I wrote last Tuesday, that today, Valentine's Day, my wife, Judith, would have a surgical implant in her right big toe joint. Well, she did, and according to the surgeon, the procedure "went like silk", whatever that means. Judith's vote is still out since despite a generous supply of Vicodin, she is still in a great deal of pain.
When we got home from the hospital I had to carry her up the front steps and into the house Creature of the Black Lagoon style. It was an appropriate Valentine's Day exercise because it reminded both of us of of our wedding day thirty-eight years ago when I carried her across the threshold of our apartment. Judith said, and I am happy to repeat, that I did this much more effortlessly this time around.
We ate broiled salmon stuffed with seafood and green beans in bed. That eating in bed thing is generally a no-no, but due to the surgical circumstances an exception was made. Due to the Vicodin no wine was had, but on the whole it was a pretty decent Valentine's Day.
I hope you all had a good one too.
