Home Baked Half Marathon... Continued

Saturday, March 17, 2012

Well, my unofficial half marathon is under my belt. It was twice the longest distance I have ever run continuously before in my life. I anticipated that it would take about three hours. I finished in three hours and ten minutes which was close. These were fourteen-and-a-half minute miles. Some people can walk at that speed, but mechanically, I was running and only stopped for a minute to drink from a roadside spigot. I didn't finish up with the LiveFit Cardio-Challenge intervals as I planned, but on the whole, I consider this a mission accomplished. According to my Omron HJ-12, I burned 1,222 calories in 23,435 aerobic steps. The pedometer disagreed with Google on the distance by two tenths of a mile, but I'm confident that my map is the more accurate. I've been home for close to two hours, had a shower, gave myself a massage, and I feel great.

That's fantastic! I'm slowly increasing both my speed and distance (walking) but nothing like that. You're an inspiration!

One of the farmers along the way has run a hose from his spring out to the road and mounted it on a post. A lot of people hike that area and and it's ten miles from anyplace you could buy a beverage, so I think he just decided to do something nice.

That is awesome! You should be so proud of yourself. I can't even imagine doing that. LOL, I can't imagine wanting to do that!

Hey, aside from your amazing feat, you mentioned an outdoor spigot? Do you mean like a bubbler? I remember there used to be a cement bubbler/water fountain on many corners back in "the day". I didn't think anyplace had them anymore.
