I'm back! (and here's why I was gone)

Right after New Years our dog, Chase suddenly passed away. He was only 3 years old. We had him back and forth to several vets and nobody could figure out what was wrong with him. The last vet we took him to thinks it was meningitis, but we will never really know. I won't go into the painful and heartbreaking details - I'm sure any of you pet lovers know how devastating an experience something like this is.
2 days later, my husband decided to get a new puppy thinking it would ease the pain and keep us busy to not dwell over the whole ordeal. We ended up with a 5-week old female pit bull, Lucy. Needless to say, she was (and still is) more than a handful! She's almost 5 months old now and I'm finally starting to have some "me" time again!
During this whole time (almost 5 months) I have not ran, and we've gone out to eat a few too many times. While I've still been eating mostly healthy (and still vegan!) I've managed to gain 10 pounds! Ugh. So as of yesterday, I am back on track and logging all my food, and running again. Well, at this point you can't even call it running, hehe! After an excruciating 3.5 miles yesterday, I started back on C25k today and that was much better! I'm hoping to be back up to 13.1 again soon so that I can start training for a full marathon!
So anyways, that's why I haven't been here. Next time something devastating happens, I will remember that those are the times I need support the most.
