"Staycation" Day 3
Wednesday, July 04, 2012
So today's story starts at 12:30AM this morning when I was awaken by one of my dogs digging at her bed. Now wide awake, I made the mistake of looking through the onscreen TV guide, and found "Independence Day", one of the movies I will watch over and over again. Of course I watched it until it was done at 2AM! Thankfully, I fell back asleep until 6:30AM.
I had decided that I was going to run first thing this morning since the Y was closed and it is going to be 95F and VERY humid today. But at 6:30AM, with only 6 hours of sleep, this was not sounding like such a brilliant idea! In spite of it, I did drag my butt out of bed and was on the road to my local park by 7am!!
I had forgotten to eat at least a granola bar before I left, and boy, did I notice the dropoff in energy after the 1st mile. Struggled to finish 3 miles in 34:30, but quite proud that I even did it, on a day when it would have been so much nicer to just roll back over in bed!
Yesterday not only did I get the entire front of the house power washed, I took down all of the shudders as well (12 of them!). The only ones I did not get down were the pair by the window up in the attic. My ladder just does not reach that high, and I do not have plywood down in the attic to get to them either. So I think I'm going to rent a 32 foot ladder and get them down. The reason for all this -- my wife and I are going to repaint the shudders! Something we have talked about doing...
Not sure if I'll find a ladder today to rent...going to call Home Depot and see if they have any. Otherwise, I have a few outside chores to take care of, and I my do some work in the basement since it is going to be hot and humid. This evening I think we are going to go out to eat vs grilling in the heat and humidity.
