Crazy work hours...

...and how too little sleep messes with your best intentions.
As I've mentioned before, I'm focusing on paying attention to when my body tells me it's hungry and when it's satiated...seems like that should be a simple thing to do, right? And I bet there are people who have never had a problem listening to their bodies. Unfortunately, I haven't been one of those folks...but I am working on it.
Today I wasn't quite as successful at paying attention and acting accordingly. I had to be at work at 3 am (yeah, that's the middle of the night) because our zone vice-president had flown into Indy the night before and wouldn't tell our district manager which stores he wanted to visit...so...you guessed it, we had to try to catch up on all of the things that we never have the time to do.
I managed to get almost 4 hours of sleep. Not quite enough to rest your body and I truly believe that's why I had a little trouble listening to my body today. Maybe my poor old body was too tired to do more than whisper...
Anyhow, around 5:30, I ate a piece of string cheese when I wasn't really all that hungry. Not bad in itself, just not what I'm trying to learn. Then, when I got home a little after noon, I ate a half of a bagel and peanut butter. Again, nothing nutritionally wrong with that, but I wasn't really at that level of hunger where my body is telling me it needs fuel.
I know some days I'll be more successful than others. I guess today my body was reminding me how important sleep is. That's also part of listening to your body!
