Amazing what a good night's rest will do...

Tuesday, March 12, 2013

- Monday, March 11 (day after daylight savings time change): sluggish, blah, etc. Strength training workout helped a little, but still did not feel too great.

- Tuesday, March 12: Up at 5AM! Off to Y and ran 4 miles! FEEL GREAT!!

Two things that I did to help:

- Had salmon for dinner on Monday evening (fish always seems to help!)
- Got to bed at 10PM!

That is exactly what I did on Monday night! Salmon & 10 pm! It worked! I got over the "Blahs" of DST!

Sleep definitely does make a difference. I have noticed that lighter dinners in the evening help as well.

I don't function well in early morning so I tend to stay up later than I should sometimes and then when I need to be up early walk around in a fog. So I respect that you and others can not only get up early and function okay but go for a long run, too. emoticon -- Lou

Sleep, glorious sleep.I need about 7 hours of sleep each night to feel my best. Fortunate I can almost always get to bed on schedule and get up on schedule.

It's hard for those of us who aren't natural morning people. The time to get up isn't very flexible, so to get enough sleep we have to go to bed early enough. That means enforcing a bedtime when there's still interesting stuff to do!

But it's worth it. As you note, things go better when I get adequate sleep.
