Joy in the journey!

Thursday, June 20, 2013

Well - got the results from my blood tests on Monday.

Good news first:
-mammogram - negative for any masses :)
-other blood tests - fine

Bad news:
-cholesterol - high... 292

I'm supposed to be taking flax seed, but due to correcting the aftertaste by freezing them, out of sight, out of mind....

Also- I think what was keeping it decent the last two years was that I had been exercising... something that I'm not doing right now - but should be... so... yeah...

Anyway -
- drank 4 cups of water! an improvement!
- still didn't get many steps in, but have been able to keep my feet up most of the day and the swelling is definitely down.
-tracked food- I was under in all my limits - not as healthy as it could be, but not too bad... I was delighted, as always, to feel the level of fullness and can put the remainder of the meal away for another time!

Just spent an hour on the phone with an old friend... we were in each others' weddings 31 & 33 years ago! Still very best friends after all these years, we just live in different states. They come visit us every New Years - one of the best times of year for us! She is struggling with changes of life... her widowed dad is marrying her mom's sister this weekend. So glad we can talk through these things by phone. And... life goes on...

Middle age... no one ever told us what it would be like... worrying about aging parents and about adult children.... sigh... We don't ever stop praying, eh?

May we have joy in our journey!

I am sorry about your cholesteral but happy about the cancer. Atleast you can fix what is wrong. Baby steps are better than no steps.

Another hard time, is when the children are grown; the parents have passed away! And, you are the older ones left!

    I never dreamed!

    So, life goes on!

emoticon mostly good news from your tests and the swelling in your leg is going down! And you got to connect with a good friend! I didn't know that flax seed would help lower one's cholesterol - I will have to give that a try. But I can see where having it in the freezer would make it hard to remember to take. I struggle with taking some of my meds and they are just in the dish cupboard where I can see them every time I go to set the table! emoticon
