Is sugar toxic?

Thursday, June 27, 2013

I don't usually don't run this way and that way on every "new discovery" of this or that terrible food... you know, "Milk will kill you" (which surfaced around 1998), etc... but my niece (who is like that) shared this on facebook and for some reason, I went ahead and watched it...

You see... I really DO like sugar! (and salt!)... and have just recently been told that my LDL is 205 and they want it at 130 (overall cholesterol is 292), so I found the nutritionist's study that links sugar with heart disease, and how it increases LDL.

Does that mean I'm going to cut sugars completely out of my diet, probably not, but my new approach to weight loss is going to be "everything in moderation" which has not always been my practice with sugar or salt...

Colossians 2:20-23 comes to mind... "Therefore, if you died with Christ from the basic principles of the world, why, as though living in the world, do you subject yourselves to regulations— “Do not touch, do not taste, do not handle,” which all concern things which perish with the using—according to the commandments and doctrines of men? These things indeed have an appearance of wisdom in self-imposed religion, false humility, and neglect of the body, but are of no value against the indulgence of the flesh.

Not only "this'll kill you" but "this is the new miracle food!"
"They ...order them to abstain from certain foods, which God created to be received with thanksgiving by those who believe and who know the truth. For everything God created is good, and nothing is to be rejected if it is received with thanksgiving, because it is consecrated by the word of God and prayer." (1 Tim 4:3-5) Shel
