Defeating the Battle 8-14-13

Hhhheeeellllllooooo world! :)

Feeling good today....so far.

Now onto yesterday....

I did 30 mins of Turbo Jam (Fat Blaster) & let me tell you...PURE SWEAT came POURING off my face. WOW!! It was TOUGH...did I say tough? I meant TOUGH! Lol

I felt GREAT though after I did it. Knowing how it kicked my booty yet I did it. I did it before I did anything else so I can get it "out of the way". Do it before my body realizes what I'm doing!

My HRM (Polar FT4) crapped out on me. It keeps showing 00 heart rate and then goes blank. Says check transmitter. So frustrating!! I changed battery, gave it a cleaning, I did research, and what I found from the research was..ITS COMMON & happens with polars. Well.... NOT happy about that at all. I spent about $100 on it and after 2 yrs they are garbage?! More of the chest strap then the watch. Ridiculous!!

If I would have known that I would have never got it.

The reason I was trying to wear it was because when I input fitness into SP I think its CRAZY high!!!! I HIGHLY doubt I burn almost 400 cals for 45 mins of Just Dance 4. Or almost 300 for 30 mins.

I have come to accept not being able to wear a HRM now though. I have told myself...it does NOT matter what SP or any other thing says you buirn, it is not going to stop me from working out the next time. So whether I burn 400 or 20 calories WHO CARES. I'm going to workout because I want to workout. I am not working out because I want to meet a certain number burned then STOP. So it is what it is.

Once again had a good day. No cravings, and no more withdrawal!!! Whoohoo!! Also met my minimum again.

I finished the night with 45 mins of Just dance 4 on xbox again.

Feeling great!

One day at a time!!

Good for you for not letting a minor setback affect your need to burn!

I have had major issues with my Polar FT4! I did finally contact Polar and they offered to send me a new strap, which they did, and it is working MUCH better now! It's not perfect as it has a VERY hard time getting my heart rate - I usually have to keep wetting the transmitters and my skin for at least a couple times before it holds steady - but unlike before, when it gets my heart rate now, it KEEPS it. Whereas prior to getting the new strap it might get it, but a few minutes later it would be reading as 228 which is absolutely nowhere near accurate. I can feel when my HR is above 190 and would probably be DEAD at 228! ;-)

So I do suggest contacting Polar. They might be able to help you also by sending a new strap. The tech that assisted me said the strap has a life of about 1-2 years on average and then the transmitters wear out.

At any rate - way to go on the workout! You're doing fabulous!

Good for you! I too love my gadgets and appreciate the feedback. I find it interesting how different the numbers can be. When I am in cycle class, it says I have burned 300 or so calories for a 45 minute class, while Spark gives me closer to 600. I choose not to believe either, and just know I am working hard and keep track of my heart rate. I LOVE watching it go way up ( 165) and then drop to 118 in recovery mode within minutes. NSV in my book! Keep on sweatin' emoticon

Contact Polar and you might find their customer service will be able to help you. I have to wash the strap every other wear and I clean the contacts with alcohol on the strap and the transmitter.
