Making progress through the holidays...

So the holidays seem to be a problem time for us all. There are lots of get togethers, eating in restaurants, and many other opportunities to derail our eating plans. I think that the key to keeping on track for me will be threefold:
1) Stay active - I plan on scheduling my workouts, and including my friends and family in my active time. This is important to me, and is thus important to them. There are plenty of fun things to do that are active - whether it is going on a walk, going dancing, or going for a swim at the gym.
2) Bring a healthy dish - For the many get togethers, I plan on bringing healthy dishes. That way, I know there is something healthy for me to eat. It doesn't mean that I can't eat other things there, but moderation is the key. Also, I don't think it is good to dwell on it. Even now, if I have a bad day - I know that I can recover the next day by eating well, watching my sodium, and drinking water. I won't just give up after having a bad day.
3) Plan non-eating social activities - I think this is key for me. I have been trying to do this a lot more recently. We are conditioned to think that getting together with friends and family has to mean eating - and eating in abundance. Not so. I am going to get a massage with my mom - get pedicures - go to the movies - go see the Christmas lights - there are so many things to do that don't involve food.
So that is my plan. I would like to continue to lose over the holidays and not just maintain - hopefully having a plan will help make that happen.
