I'm not one for this kind or diet or that one because I've been on every kind since I was eleven years old! My body seems to be satisfied with eating around 90-a little over 100 grams a protein a day maybe more depending on how active I am. I eat slightly more carbs than protein. I guess one could call that a bit of a Zone type diet in theory, but I'm not sitting down to do all the math.
I'm staying away from sugar. Its just good old common sense. It turns me into a monster. I'm an addict and sugar is my drug. I have to look for the hidden sugars in packaged foods, therefore, its easier just to keep it simple. Mother nature grew it, birthed it, whatever and I'm going to it. If not then I won't.
During the Fall challenge something that was brought to my attention during one of our challenges my fiber intake, or lack there of I should say. That is an area I need to work on. Makes sense to me- I was without my customary garden last year due to my recent move. I am certainly a produce snob! I've had to relax my snootiness a bit and have actually found a few place that are not too bad for vegetables. A bit off topic seeds are being order tonight for the summer garden :)
Another significant problem area that was sodium! I have to get rid of the processed foods. That crosses other areas of my life social and personal convenience. I have a diet saboteur in my life, but ultimately its my mouth, my hand and my responsibility to say no. So I must do so. No one is holding a gun to my head and making me eat. The sodium MUST stay below 2300 mg. I learned I was making some SERIOUS measuring mistakes with marinades and rubs. I never had a problem with sodium before the last 5 weeks of the challenge. I was flabbergasted about that. It turned out to be a good thing, because I now experiment with making my own rubs rather than buying packaged rubs.
