Cornering the First Cornerstone: FOCUS

In this blog, I’d like to corner the first cornerstone, FOCUS.

SparkPeople describes this cornerstone as:
“You have to know what you want, why you want it and how you’re going to make it happen.”

What this means to me:
I want to lose 30 pounds by July 1. Eventually, I hope to lose about 50 more than that, but for now, I’m going for the 30 pounds. I’ve failed before and 80 pounds sounds like too big a number right now. Thirty pounds would be over 10% of my body weight. I would lose a clothing size, probably two. My feet would hurt less. My attitude would be much improved. Stress and my propensity to be quick to anger would decrease. I bet I’ll sleep better and I’ll enjoy gardening more. I’ll probably stop having those weird pains where it feels like my fat and my ribs are fighting for space. My husband will probably give me a friendly slap on my booty a little more often. My kids will be so proud of their mom!
That covers the “what” and “why.” Now for the “how.” For me, it’s simple. I LOVE the new SP Start Page. It’s all right there for me everyday. It’s the first thing I go to when I start my computer. It’s organizes me and I thrive on that. It lays the groundwork and gets me focused everyday. It helps me plan and it rewards me. It takes me to fun and interesting places. It brings me a support team. It’s cute, it’s colorful and it’s happy. It encompasses all I must do to accomplish my goals: nutrition, fitness, visualization, motivation, support, information, tracking, goal setting and more. My SparkPeople Start Page is HOW I focus on everything I need to reach my goals.

    I'm focusing on losing wt and eating healthy. No meat.

    I was diagnosed twice with pre-diabetes and I definitely don't want to go there. I don't want diabetes. Too many health complications if you go there.

    Great blog, self! Stay focused and remember WHY you want to lose weight. There are a million other reasons than what the scale says. Mostly, it makes you FEEL GOOD!!
