Weight Gain

I couldn't figure out why my body wasn't following the weight gain range for pregnancy (15-25 pounds). I had been using this guideline based on my starting BMI and Height (5'8 3/4 inches). In the pregnancy weight gain tracker, I could only add whole inches to my height, so I added 5'8. Well, come to find out, if I put in a height of 5'9 my weight range adjusts to (25-35 pounds!). NO WONDER I was a little above my weight gain recommendation before. I'm closer to 5'9 in height than I am 5'8.
My highest weight within that recommended range would be: 203 pounds. I'm currently at 188 pounds with 14 weeks to go. I'm hoping the gain is slow and steady, although I have to admit gaining weight is scary. It is hard to see yourself go from healthy and fit to gaining a bunch of weight. It's a hard mental adjustment to wrap your head around. I realize it is for the baby, its normal, and its healthy. However, it is STILL hard to see your body go through all these changes that you feel are out of your control.
I know my body will never be the same, however, I'm terrified I won't even recognize it as my own after giving birth. I'd like to feel like some small part of my former self still exists. I have the normal fear, also, that my husband won't be attracted to me after this whole process is done with.
I've already gained 20 pounds, and I feel like huge. Supposedly people gain around 1 pound a week from here on out, which would add another 14 pounds. *Sigh*
