First weekend challenge for BLC 25

Monday, May 05, 2014

Hard to believe but we are already almost a week into BLC 25! I swear time is just flying by! So our 1st BLC wide challenge wants us to put our goals "in the public" AND if we did the fitness test to blog about it. So here we go emoticon :

My goals for this round of the BLC are to lose 12 pounds over the course of the next 12 weeks. I have yet to ever hit this goal each time I set it for the BLC rounds, so I am hoping I can this time! I have a secret weapon in my back pocket this round - a personal trainer! emoticon Another goal is to increase the amount of protein I am eating daily. This is something that was discussed at my trainer's assessment - he told me my fat to protein to carbs ratio was all wrong. Protein was always lowest and I need to bring that up to at least equal or better than the others. So that is something I am going to focus on this round also...along with continuing with my healthier eating! I also am going to strive to get cardio in on alternating days of trainer...at least for now. I may attempt to do some afterwards once I am more accustomed to what he is putting me through!

Let me just start this Fitness Test section by giving a word to the wise - do NOT attempt or think to do this AFTER your 1st session with a trainer!!! emoticon I really do not know what I was thinking planning to do mine after my 1st session! But I got 'er done! I was not surprised with my time on the 1 mile walk as that is about normal for me regularly. I am hoping that by the last one we do I am running some or most of that mile! Push ups and crunches I do believe may have been on the low side as my arms were jelly already and I did crunches with the trainer. The one area I WAS surprised was on the 3 minute step test. According to the chart that Spark had on their webpage my heart rate was in the "very poor" category. As much as I walk - and at an incline no less - I didn't think I that would happen! Well I guess that means I have lots of room to improve! All in all it was really quite interesting to see the results of this and even more so when we do it again!! emoticon
