My new normal- being HYPER sensitive to carbs

You think you are invincible. It won't happen to you.
You ignore the warnings.
That's why I picked the SP use name "Now-You-Did-It"
It shouldn't be a surprise to me.
Type 2 hits.
Which makes ignoring that my body hates carbs, incredibly hard.

My body loves the same foods I'm eating everyday now. It responds appropriately to them...........until I try something else. Last Friday some of the kids and I went shopping and came home starved.
My daughter came over to baby sit and ordered sandwiches for us from the pizza shop.
No problem I thought.
I ate my very favorite grilled chicken sandwich. With bacon and mozzarella cheese. No bread of course. And a few strawberries. Just for dinner.

And gained 3 pounds! emoticon

I am eating this dressing on my daily salad now~
from the Coconut Ketogenic Diet book.

Ranch Dressing
3T sour cream
1T cream
1/8 t. onion powder
1/8 dill
1/8 salt
dash pepper

4 T per serving equals
3 g fat
0.5 net carb
0 protein
29 calories
I use garlic in mine with extra dill. Delicious! I've never liked salad dressing- love this!

Eating feels normal now- no surprises.
And I never wonder what's for dinner! :o)

    Also keep in mind that you may not be "sensitive" to all carbs. My son has Type I diabetes and through trial and error when he was younger, I found that he was sensitive to oatmeal, although his nutritionist recommended that he eat it. The weight gain may or may not be an indicator because being female you also have hormonal things going on and it could also be water weight. Strawberries, blueberries and most berries are pretty low in carbs. I would not rule them out.

    Also, the scale does not tell the whole story, also note how your clothes are fitting, that more than anything is an indicator of whether the gain is temporary or a trend.

    I was just reading about buttered coffee so you know I'm going to have to try it. Yes, the carbs and sugar in the berries may have just been too much for you, especially if you were already "starved". Try keeping some hard-boiled eggs in the frig for times exactly like that. I can use them to tide me over until I get to my real deal meal!!

    I only like a few salad dressings. I actually prefer to make my own too. I would imagine the weight gain was from salt.

    OK my friend, obviously I am dense because I don't understand how grilled chicken caused the weight gain. I seem to be missing some pieces.....

    Yup, if you're carb sensitive the body will do all it can to spike the blood sugar and knock it down with insulin to store fat. The body seems to 'help us' by storing fat for that famine period that never seems to happen. I suppose the best we can do is exercise (which temporarily raises blood sugar!) to burn off the residual stuff (A1C) and just avoid consumption where we can. It makes no sense that exercise does that, but it does. But it isn't a 'bad' thing or a reason not to do it. It can just make people crazy when they 'test'.

    Its hard to avoid carbs. I guess its more like 'avoid excess carbs' and do the absolute best to avoid simple sugars and have starchy/complex ones if you must have them at all. Jeez it is difficult though!
