BLC Stop Breathe Think Act - Visions

Friday, January 23, 2015

This week's challenge for BLC is really good - I like it... it's all about thinking before doing and a couple of the tasks include thinking about your visions for various things including family and work/career so here we go!

My vision for my career is to be a novel writer. This is my long term goal. I know that until we have enough savings and our debt is paid off, this is unlikely to be a full time enterprise for me. In the meantime, I will continue to write regularly to keep my mind active and keep my eyes on the prize!

In terms of my job, I am a contractor and am going to pump up my resume this year. For the past few years I've been working for the same customer and it's very convenient for me - 3 days a week. I have just started a new training course today online that will give me a new qualification to expand my employability. I have another one to start after this one, in another area - they are all related but it will definitely give me a few more strings to my bow.

My vision for my family is that we will be healthy and happy and close. I am focused on improving my own health and try to use natural products and foods as much as possible to keep my daughters and partner happy and healthy too.

My life vision is to be a successful writer, with my family close by. I want to be active and healthy and live a long happy life.

This is a year for visions. Someone on here said recently that 'a goal is a dream with a date in mind' or something to that effect. Sometimes I've let the goals slip because I feared failure--even currently. That is tough to overcome.

I never liked Michael Jordan, but he said "I've missed more than 9000 shots in my career. I've lost almost 300 games. 26 times, I've been trusted to take the game winning shot and missed. I've failed over and over and over again in my life. And that is why I succeed."

Terry Crews said recently that he played for 6 NFL teams. And got cut from each of them every year. He auditioned for movies and didn't get the part. And yet he is imminently successful in our eyes, but to him he thought he was a failure.
