Coming clean

Thursday, April 23, 2015

I had left my tracker at 210. (pounds) because that was what I weighed up until May 2014. And then I slowly gained back the 20 pounds I lost.

Yup.
In 8 months I re-gained it. And I was devastated.

As I tried to "quit" worrying about the weight. I submerged myself in learning and reading everything about the new life style I have chosen- Low Carb, High Fat, Paleo. The more I cooked like this for the kids and myself (Grumpy refuses to eat most of it) The easier it became. My kids that don't have special needs were really feeling more energy and less irritable on this food plan. They are my biggest encouragers.

In March I read about Intermittent Fasting. I had seen Dr Mosely's pbs special on it a few years back. But I thought it would be too hard. I could barely fast 12 hours for my blood work!

So with all of my strength I forged ahead with trying Fasting. It wasn't easy in the beginning but it was worth it. And once I adjusted to a schedule for fasting that fits my life style it was so easy. I could not justify not doing it. Now all I needed was to stay on my eating plan.

Last February my youngest married daughter told me she was doing Paleo. Now we encourage each other as well. And she is encouraged by her sibs at home.

Weight loss on fasting is slow. But in 5 weeks I'm down 6 pounds of what I re-gained so I can't complain!

One very Sweet SP friend here came clean on her weight gain and inspired me to do so as well.
After all, we are all in this together and none of us perfect.
But all of us are worth it!

NEVER give up!

Hey, I still put on applications that I graduated from high school. That was in 1978, so what if I've learned more since. Okay, maybe it isn't the same but we can laugh about it.

I'm plateauing right now, which is consistently under 210 when I used to hang around 230+. So while I'm not 198, the beat goes on...just as Sonny and Cher sang about before we knew they were so miserable together.

Thanks for adding me as your friend.

    Peace! out.

My dog, Jazzi, died on Dec.21st and I gained the 17 pounds, + one back that I had lost between April-June of 2014!!!! emoticon ... so I totally understand.

I started a Primal/Paleo reset April 1st and so far I have lost 5 pounds! But more than anything, I am back on track with my eating and exercise and feeling great. I still miss Jazzi very, very much, there is not a day that goes by that I don't think of her. I am ready for new puppy and when I saw my doctor on April 2, her prescription to me was to "get a new puppy"... so there, it's official I must get one!!!! emoticon I am not quite ready, trying to get a crate and other supplies before I commit so that I will be prepared for my new family member.

On the Primal/Paleo team I am doing resets every month so feel to join. I think it's great to participate in it because you will get daily feedback and support. It's also a way to stay accountable. You can start now if you like, we post our meals, exercise, as much or as little as you want to share.

Here is the link to the thread, and whatever you decide to do, I wish you the best of luck in your journey! emoticon

It took 8 months to gain 20 pounds, and 5 weeks to lose 6. You're well on your way to success. Keep it up!

You are so right! we ARE all worth it! So what if you didn't 'come clean' about gaining?
We are all fighting the same battle together, but your own individual progress is you own personal mountain! The important thing is that you are back climbing it, along with the rest of us!! so, get your climbing boots on and up we go!!!

6lb in 5 weeks is good to me! If you try foo lose it too quickly you end up on some fancy, expensive, strict diet, eating things you don't always really enjoy, takes up a load of time preparing... lose 4lb first week 2lb next .... then freeze solid. followed by getting frustrated and giving in!
We need something that keeps on losing week after week after week!
Simple maths .. or math as the USA folk say ..

    QUICK LOSS v STEADY LOSS
    lose 30lb in 12 weeks .. give up ...gain 15lb back ... do same again = 1year= -30lb
    lose i lb a week =1 year -52lb down ... continuing- no yo-yoing!
