Dad update

Lots of updates after seeing my dad for the first time yesterday and speaking with the doctors.

In addition to a stroke, which was caused by a blocked carotid artery, they have also found a mass above one of his lungs and one on the opposite side of his brain where the stroke occurred. Not a particularly pretty picture.

Today (Wednesday) they are going to do a needle biopsy on the lung mass to determine just what that mass is made of. It would be a shock if it is not cancerous, but I am getting the impression they will be able to determine the characteristics of it to best determine treatment options.

Everything I have read states it'll be a few days at a minimum to get the results of the biopsy. So I am not optimistic we'll know what the treatment plan options are until then, which just extends the hospital visit that much longer. And that is not at all a place to get rest!

Thankfully, dad is in pretty spirits, is trying really hard to communicate, and has a very good appetite (although he is not eating his veggies, but I won't be the one to correct him!).
